PROMOTING EMPLOYMENT, INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP She has been an active policy initiator through her participation in European and international organization for the promotion of the interconnection of innovation with the real economy. She supported innovation and entrepreneurship through her participation as Scientific Advisor and Expert in Committees of International Organizations (OECD, UNESCO, INSULA, EU, ICOMOS, EIT, CE-PACT, UN, EPA, TMS, et al.) (1982 today) and Boards in issues of Technological Innovations, Sustainable Development, Local Employment and Education, Protection of the Environment, as well as for the Protection of Architectural and Cultural Heritage, She acted at the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) for active policies to tackle unemployment worldwide, as elected President of the Local Economic and Employment Development (LEED) Program in active cooperation with major world Banks (Germany, UK, USA, Japan and elsewhere), achieving measurable results in tackling unemployment (1982-1987). In this direction, she introduced to the European Union the concept of the social fund to sustain active policies for youth s employment and education (Employment Program STAGE, (1984-1985) She chaired the Affiliation of the Industrial Bank of Greece, called Development Agency of Local Productive Initiatives (1985-1986), developing a holding company for innovative venture capital investments. I.4. DEVELOPING SYNERGIES AND ALLIANCES WITH INDUSTRY She has fostered the adoption of research based innovation into the market for a resourceefficient, sustainable and competitive European growth, through strategic alliances with the industry, and more specifically the construction sector, which contributes as a factor of economic and social cohesion, through: her participation at the European Council of Academies of Applied Sciences, Technologies and Engineering Euro-CASE Innovation Platform, since 2012, transforming manufacturing by promoting knowledge alliance with industry, and adapting education and training according to the new production model, as a path towards a smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, the update of Engineering profiles for the building materials industry through the assessment of the applicability and effectiveness of the existing curricula of engineers to meet the specific requirements set by building materials industry, under the guidance of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises and its Centre of Industry, the conception since 1987 at OECD level and its preliminary function, with the participation of major global industries (Philips, Siemens AT & T et al.),of the later formatted European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), fostering innovation and strengthening synergies to increase European sustainable growth and competitiveness, the introduction to major players in the Leisure and Entertainment industry (Club Méditerranée, Euro Disney Thematic Park and others), in development level, the concept of Sustainable Tourism regarding the natural and cultural environment, (1st international OECD Conference on Tourism and Environment, Rhodes, 1989), the participation in the European initiative of the European Construction Technology Platform, since 2003, a cooperation platform with leading construction companies and suppliers from all over Europe as its members fostering emerging and innovative technologies towards sustainable constructions / infrastructures, as well as within the participation in the Energy Efficient Buildings Association (E2BA), since its foundation in 2008. I.5. SOCIAL AND POLITICAL ACHIEVEMENTS She has been at the forefront of many initiatives and programs that link Education and Research with Politics and Society, with a concrete reference in underlying the role of Youth and Sustainability. She has contributed to the design and application of Sustainable Development that addresses the needs of the local Societies that encompasses Excellence and Scientific Support in Decision Making. Central Political Scene She was a member of the Coordinating Committee of the democratic uprising in November 1973 at the National Technical University of Athens, participated in the leadership of the students movement. Since then, she has been at the forefront of the pursuits and sensibilities of the Youth, as advisor of the Minister of Youth (1981-1985), and in the the General Secretariat of Youth (1985-1986), as well as to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (1986-1987). Technical (Engineering) Chamber of Greece Since 1981 she has served in the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE-TCG), the official advisor of the State in issues of Technical Development, a public entity of more than 120.000 Engineers. She has been elected Member of the Assembly Presidium (1981-1984, 1997-today), member of the Executive Committee (2001-2007) and Secretary General of the TCG (2004-2007), with the Page 10
