Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI 1 Chapter 1: General information Function 1.1 MediaPlayer XS HDMI supported formats 1. Photo: JPG, BMP, PNG Music: MP3, WAV, WMA Video: MPEG-1 (DAT), MPEG-2 (VOB), MPEG- (AVI, MP, ASF, DIVX, XVID), M-JPG 2. Supported video formats: MP2, MP3, DIVX3.11/.x/5.x and XVID. 3. Apply to all the multimedia file in USB disk and mobile hard disk (FAT32, NTFS).. Output port: HDMI, AV and high quality stereo output. 5. TV output Specification: support NTSC/PAL system 6. Power format: DC 5V adapter,ac 100-20V input,max output voltage:5.5v 2.2A, Max output power: 12.1W Important note: The Freecom device has not been developed or conceived for use with disregard to copyrights or other rights to intellectual property. General information 1.2 Precautionary measures To ensure that your Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI functions properly, please take note of the following precautions. If these are not followed, you may void your warranty and damage the Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI. 1 The device shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing. No objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the device or power adapter. Do not expose the batteries to excessive heat caused by direct sunlight, fire or similar. No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles should be placed on the device. Do not drop the Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI or expose it to other kinds of sudden mechanical shocks as this may result in data loss and damage to the Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI. Do not use the Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI when the ambient temperature is below 10 C or above 35 C. If the Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI is moved from a cool environment to a warmer environment, please allow the device to acclimatize to the ambient temperature before operating the device. Failing to do so may lead to condensation within the device enclosure, which in turn may cause the device to malfunction. Do not place liquids or drinks on the Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI. When liquids are spilled and get in contact with the electronics within the device enclosure, it will damage the device and will cause the device to malfunction. Do not use the Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI in a dusty environment. Dust inside the enclosure may damage the internal electronics and result in device malfunction. Opening the Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI will void the warranty. 5

How to connect the MediaPlayer XS HDMI Chapter : How to connect the MediaPlayer XS HDMI IR cable to MP XS HDMI 1. Connect the remote control receiver cable to the corresponding input interface on your MediaPlayer XS HDMI. Fix IR cable to TV 2. Fix the remote control receiver on the front panel of the TV or any other position where the remote control can be in direct contact with the remote control receiver. TV cable to MP XS HDMI 3. Connect the audio/video cable to your MediaPlayer XS HDMI. TV cable to TV - AV. Connect the audio/video cable of the MediaPlayer XS HDMI to the corresponding input jacks to your TV (audio/video or SCART). a) Cinch connection audio/video to TV or SCART or b) SCART (Use the supplied SCART adapter to connect to SCART) 7

Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI or HDMI connection 5. Connect the HDMI cable to your MediaPlayer XS HDMI. 6. Connect the HDMI cable to the corresponding input jack of your TV. Power 7. Connect the cable of the power supply to the Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI and the power supply itself to the mains socket. USB connection 8. Connect the USB cable (not supplied) to the USB port of your external USB device. 9. Connect the USB cable (not supplied) to the Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI. 8 Now you can enjoy your multimedia files (Photo, Music, Video) from your USB device directly on your TV. Point the remote control to the receiver on the front panel of the device. The receiving angle is about ± 30 degrees in the range of 5 meters. Change the batteries when they are weak or empty. 10

User operation guide Chapter : User operation guide After successful hardware installation, you can start using the Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI by following the menu on your TV screen..1 Main Menu Connect a USB Stick or a USB hard disk to the USB slot. The Main Menu will show functions for your choice: Figure 1 Video: Selecting the option "Video" will display only video files in the file list. Music: Selecting the option "Music" will display only music files in the file list. Photo: Selecting the option "Photo" will display only photo files in the file list. All Files: Selecting this option will display all media files in the file list. Note 1: If no image appears on your TV screen, please check all cable connections. Note 2: When inserting a USB Stick or a USB hard disk with more than one partition or several USB sticks or hard disks via USB hub, the main screen will show a selection window (see Figure 2). Press up /down keys to select the device you want to use. Press OK to confirm your selection. Figure 2 11

Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI Note3: Don t arbitrarily remove the USB Stick or a USB hard disk when it is playing. This can damage your device. In case the device can t detect any files, the message NO MEDIA DETECTED (see Figure 3). Figure 3.1.1 All Files Selecting "All files" (Figure ) in the main menu displays a list with all media files. Navigate through the list by using the up/down buttons. To open a folder, select it and press the "OK" button on the remote control. To exit a folder, press the "Home" button on the remote control. If you are in the root directory, pressing the "Home" button will open the main menu. Figure 12

User operation guide.1.2 Photo Photo Playback To playback photos on your TV, press either the "All files" or the "Photo" button (Figure 5) on the remote control. "All files" will display all files in the file list, when the "Photo" button is pressed, only photo files will be shown. Select a photo file and press the "OK" button on the remote control to show the photo on the TV screen. Photo files can easily be recognized by the "Photo" (Figure 6) icon left to the file name. If the folder where the selected photo is located contains more than one photo file, all photo files will automatically be played as slideshow. Figure 5 Figure 6 13

The properties of the photo will show on the top of the screen (size, resolution, creation date). (see Figure 8) Figure 7 Figure 8 Rotating Photos When watching photos, you can use (0 / 90 / 180 / 270 ). to rotate the displayed photo ATTTION: Rotating pictures is not supported in 1080i mode. Display photos with background music Connect a USB Stick or a USB hard disk to the USB slot. After powering on the device, press either the "Photo" or the "Music" button on the remote control and choose AUTOPLAY. ATTTION: AUTOPLAY is not supported in 1080i mode. If you want to skip MP3 background music, press. 1 If you want to return to the Main Page, press.

User operation guide Pause/ Play: Pause: Press stops Play: Press, MP3 background music will not stop while the photo playback a second time, music and photo will both be played again..1.3 Music To playback music on your TV, press either the "All files" or the "Music" button on the remote control. "All files" will display all files in the file list, when the "Music" button is pressed, only music files will be shown. Select a music file and press the "OK" button on the remote control to start playback of the music file. Music files can easily be recognized by the "Music" (Figure 9) icon left to the file name. If the folder where the selected music file is located contains more than one music file, all music files in this folder will automatically be played starting with the selected file. If the folder where the selected video file is located contains more than one video file, all video files in this folder will automatically be played starting with the selected file. Note: If you have saved more than eight videos, press (previous page) to choose the video you want. (next page) or Video File Information Enter the file list and press INFO on the remote control. The properties of the video will show on the top of the screen (size, resolution, playing time). 16

User operation guide Repeat function You can press Repeat on the remote control repeatedly to choose Repeat play format (Repeat one/all/off, see Figure 12 and Figure 13). Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI 5 Chapter 5: Q & A Problem MediaPlayer XS HDMI does not start After a USB stick or a USB hard drive was connected, the Freecom MediaPlayer XS HDMI cannot play the files. No image appears on TV No Sound Reason and Solution Check if the power adapter is connected to MediaPlayer XS HDMI and mains socket. If the power adapter is properly connected, but the device still does not function, contact the Freecom Support Center. - The formats you want to play might not be supported by the MediaPlayer XS HDMI - You have no multimedia files on your USB stick/usb hard drive that can be played by the MediaPlayer XS HDMI Video line is not connected well. Check all connectors and make sure that the video line is connected to the TV set. If the video line is properly connected, but still no image appears on TV, contact the Freecom Support Center. This guarantee covers none of the following: (a) any consumable supplied with the product, such as media or batteries; (b) damage to or loss of any software programs, data or removable storage media; (c) any damage resulting from adaptations, changes or adjustments, which may have been made to the product, without the prior written consent of Freecom; (d) attempted repair by any party other than authorized by Freecom and (e) accidents, lightning, water, fire or any other such cause beyond the reasonable control of Freecom. With respect to all services provided, Freecom is not responsible for any damage to or loss of any programs, data or other information stored on any media or any part of any product serviced. Freecom is not liable for the consequence of business loss in case of system failure. Be sure to exclude all parts not covered by this guarantee prior to returning the product to Freecom. Freecom is not liable for any loss or damage to these items. If during the repair of the product the contents of the hard drive are altered, deleted or in any way modified, Freecom is not liable whatsoever. Repair parts and replacement products will be provided on an exchange basis and will be either new, equivalent to new or reconditioned. All replaced parts and products become the property of Freecom The period of guarantee for any product or part repaired or replaced in warranty shall be the balance of the original guarantee.
