The MA in Sociology is designed to provide training in advanced approaches to social theory and a wide range of quantitative and qualitative research methods and to develop the capacity to apply contending theories and a variety of methods to empirical research problems. There are also opportunities to take options that focus on a range of substantive areas of sociology and the course is led by staff experienced at working in one of the most difficult and socially divided research environments in Europe. The MA in Sociology provides sociological training that is both valuable in its own right and may serve as a stepping stone to subsequent doctoral research. Participants are equipped with the intellectual and practical skills to engage in social inquiry at an advanced level, employing a range of theoretical approaches and research methods, and developing the capacity to deal with complex research questions.
