SCHOOL OF COMPUTING AND INFORMATICS Undergraduate and Graduate Programmes 2016/2017
WELCOME The School of Computing and Informatics (SCI) originated from the Department of Computing and Information Systems that was established in 1986 when Institut Teknologi Brunei (ITB) was still at its infancy. It then became one of the departments under the School of Business and Management in 2003. When ITB was upgraded to a university in 2008, it became a Programme Area under the Faculty of Business and Computing. Recognising the rapid growth in the fields of dedicated computing systems and creative informatics, SCI was formed in 2014 and consists of three Programme Areas: Creative Computing (CC), Computing and Information Systems (CIS), and Computer Network Security (CNS). As part of the journey to meet the University s aspiration to become a ranked engineering and technology university, our mission is to produce graduates with exceptional life-long skills and relevant competencies through innovative teaching and research. The School has successfully produced excellent programmers, software engineers and industrial leaders and we will continue to be the main drivers in areas of strategic importance nationally and globally. The School is currently offering five undergraduate degree programmes and also graduate degrees.

What I am happy about is that some people looked down on me when I proposed my Final Year Project, but look! my project was the best project in my class I got the highest mark and received an award sponsored by AITI. Nur Nabilah Abd Rahman Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Internet Computing Cyberunai eservices System Developer Trainee When I first joined ITB, I didn t have any skill or knowledge on any programming language. The only thing that I knew about Computer was to use the browser to access the Internet and use the Office programme. Alhamdulilah and thanks to all the lecturers and also my friends in ITB, I have learnt a lot of new skills and knowledge during my time studying there. Now, doing programming is one of my daily tasks in the company where I currently work.
