About the College Motilal Nehru College (Evening) is a premier constituent college of the University of Delhi. Earlier known as Hastinapur College, it got its current nomenclature in the year 1977, after the name of remarkable freedom fighter Pt. Motilal Nehru, whose values of commitment, integrity, justices, equality and rational thinking are still strong guiding principles for the institution. Established in 1965, as one of the evening colleges of the University, the college has successfully stood up to the task of imparting higher education to those deprived of it. Year 1991-92 was of remarkable significance for the institution as it turned co-educational to facilitate admission and education to girl students. The college believes in and follows the value of inclusiveness. Majority of the students come from not so privileged classes and the institution attempts to bridge the social gap between products of private and public education systems. The institution derives its strengths by creating opportunities for those education seekers who use Gandhian Metaphor, stand last in the queue. It is a matter of pride for the college that over the years despite various limitation inherit in an evening institution, the student have not only been pursuing higher studies but have taken reputed jobs in diverse fields of social life. The college has remained a popular choice among students who sought admission to University prestigious Colleges. Though with the changing times the profile of students has broadly changed, the institute s commitment to address their needs continues resolutely. About the Department The Department of Commerce, Motilal Nehru College (E) was set up in the year 1967 with a vision to impart quality and value based education in the field of Commerce and to produce students with appropriate managerial skills so that they may compete with professionals at the national and international level. Over the years, this department has carved an enviable niche in the field of Commerce education in northern India. Our vision is the alignment of theory with practice, academia with industry and fostering the sense of enterprise with motivation and professionalism.
