Introduction to Goals Strategies and Section I: Goals, Strategies and Metrics Vision FWCS will be a school district where technology is used equitably to expand and amplify our students educational experience in a supported and reliable manner. Mission and Goals We are committed to using current technologies to support the Fort Wayne Community School Corporation s district-wide goal to educate all students to high standards enabling them to become productive, responsible citizens. Technology breaks down barriers allowing students to learn anytime, anywhere in an engaging and personalized fashion. Therefore, it is our goal to infuse technology into classroom instruction in a manner that is ubiquitous and practical. Ubiquitous so that technology is available to our students and practical so that it is a part of their everyday experience as it is in their current world and, most importantly, will be in their future career. These goals represent a comprehensive plan for schools, K-12, which will support technology integration to support administrators, students, and teacher learning. The guiding principles used in developing our goals to integrate technology are: Precise and immediate analysis of data to determine student and teacher need Personalized learning for students which includes online courses Professional learning for teachers Procurement and use of 21st Century knowledge and skills Provision for engaging instructional designs Governance At FWCS, technology decisions are made jointly between the Curriculum Department, Area Technology Coordinators, and the Technology Department. The Area Technology Coordinators are responsible for interfacing with the schools in developing each school s technology plan and developing/obtaining professional learning. The Curriculum Department ensures that the technology plans brought forward from the schools are in alignment with the FWCS Curriculum Framework and that the technology is infused according to proper instruction methods. The Technology Department ensures that the infrastructure is able to support what is planned and that relevant and appropriate technical support is available. With as many schools as we have, the committee members make every effort to unify the individual school technology plans. There are schools that have areas of special emphasis (e.g., New Tech) which require special/divergent technology and are noted in the school plans; however, most of the school plans are aligned as a District plan for efficiency and equity reasons. 3
Establish and maintain effective and efficient operations. Replace building edge switches. Upgrade power in MDF/IDF to 2-20 amp service. Expand firewall to 10g. Replace Cisco 1252 Access Points and upgrade wireless controllers. Upgrade Exchange to either 2013 or 365. Upgrade IPTV distribution devices. Replace Altiris device management/software deployment software with Microsoft SCCM. Complete Time Management implementation. Replace current HR system with a Human Capital Management system that collects, manages, monitors, and reports employee talent, performance, compensation, and benefit information. Replacement of building edge switches. Completion of MDF/IDF power upgrades. Completion of firewall expansion. Elimination of Cisco 1252 AP s. Completion of Exchange upgrade.
