Influence of playing video games. Modernised technology makes games more realistic. Video games in general have also been shown to make people more anti-social. Although video games have been available for more than 30 years, today's sophisticated video games require players to pay constant attention to the game. Players engage on deeper level, physically and emotionally than people do when watching a movie or TV.
Significance The video game industry sold 273 millions games and made $10.5 billion revenue in 2009 67% of American households play video games 32.9 million people across the UK play games 40% of all gamers are female Clearly the dangers of video games do not deter a lot of people from playing them. Are we in denial about how playing games makes us feel? Do we fully understand the effects of playing games on our everyday behaviour?
Effects of violent video games Violent video games are defined as those where the players act out the killing, maiming or mutilating of other human characters. Aims A review of literature on the effects of video games on behaviour. A comparison of the attitudes and behaviour of people who play video games and people who don t.
Hypothesis: People who play video games tend to have more aggressive and/or anti-social responses in their everyday life than those who don t play video games.
Methods used We searched on google, on 3/12/14 the terms video games, violent, anti-social, aggressive, behaviour and found approximately 39 million results and we collected data from 9 articles that reviewed and summarised the effects of video games in the science popular media. (Background) Designed questionnaires: Included students from UCL, office workers on the Tottenham Court Road, and LSHTM staff+ students online.

And question 13 which is how often do you get frustrated? Conclusion We concluded that our results rejects our hypothesis. We found people who play violent and non violent video games were no different in their level of aggression (yelling) compared to people who do not play video games. Surprisingly people who play video games tended to get less frustrated than those who didn t. This may suggest that playing violent video games is an activity of stress relief.
