1 SCHOOLS SAFE 4 GIRLS - Questionnaire for schools What is this questionnaire for? Schools have a critical role to play in helping young people to develop healthy attitudes and behaviours, as well as identifying and supporting young people at risk of and experiencing abuse. You may want to use this questionnaire, or parts of it, to start a conversation with your school about how they can improve students safety and support. You may want to ask your school to complete the questionnaire to identify any gaps in school policy and practice. Use the questionnaire in conjunction with other items in our Schools Safe 4 Girls campaign pack which includes Factsheets setting out facts about violence against women and girls (VAWG) and school obligations, as well as template letters to schools, MPs etc. Definition The UN definition of violence against women and girls (VAWG) is; violence that is directed against a woman, because she is a woman, or violence that affects women disproportionately. It includes acts that inflict physical, mental or sexual harm or suffering, threats of such acts, coercion and other deprivations of liberty. This includes intimate partner violence including in teenage relationships, rape and sexual violence, sexual harassment and bullying, child sexual abuse, trafficking and sexual exploitation, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, honour based violence and serious youth violence.
