Art. 1 Admission requirements Students in possession of a secondary school diploma and those enrolled in the last year of secondary school who are due to take the final exam in the 2014/2015 school year are eligible to take the exam. Admission to one of the degree courses in the 2015/2016 academic year is nevertheless dependent upon obtaining an upper secondary school qualification. Educational qualifications gained abroad are recognized as valid if they have been gained after at least 12 years of schooling. Where the local education system envisages 11 or 10 years of schooling, the qualification is valid if combined with having spent one or two years at a university and with having passed all relevant exams throughout the period of attendance. A post-secondary qualification from a non-university institute of higher education will be accepted as an alternative to the years spent at a university. Additional information on the validity of foreign qualifications for access to university can be found in the ministerial provisions issued each year. EU and non-eu citizens in possession of a permit to stay in Italy issued in accordance with art. 26 of Law no. 189 of 30 July 2002 have access to university education under the same conditions as Italian students. Citizens of Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, the Republic of San Marino, refugees and the beneficiaries of subsidiary protection, staff working in foreign diplomatic missions and in international bodies with headquarters in Italy, accredited by the Italian State or the Holy See, as well as their dependent family members (spouses and children only) are considered equivalent to EU citizens. Non-EU candidates residing abroad, for whom a certain number of places on individual study courses are made available, are also permitted to apply. Art. 2 Mode of access A single compulsory, non-selective entrance exam for all the courses must be taken in order to gain access to the degree courses to which this competition applies. There will be three exam sessions, on 9 May, on 18 September and on 3 October 2015, held at the Faculty of Political, Economic and Social Sciences of the University of Milan, which all candidates residing in Italy are eligible to sit. Candidates residing abroad may take the exam online by following the instructions provided in article 6 of this announcement. Art. 3 Admission procedure and deadline Application for the current exam session will begin on 1 April 2015 and terminate on 4 May 2015 at 12.00 midday, with no possibility of extension. To apply, candidates must follow the procedure below: 2

1. Register on the University portal through the page https://www.unimi.it/registrazione/eng/registra.keb (this step is not required for candidates who have already registered through the portal or who have been given credentials to access the university s online services); 2. Sign up to the online admission Services, using own credentials: http://studenti.divsi.unimi.it/ammissioni/a/primolivello/checklogin.asp; 3. Pay the fee of 30.00 in one of the following ways: a) using the MAV (notice of payment) form generated at the end of the online application; b) by credit card (until 5 days before the deadline for applications). Payment must be made by the deadline for application at the very latest, on pain of exclusion. A receipt (Application form) is issued at the end of the online procedure which must be shown to the examining board on the day of the exam. The receipt is the only document accepted as proof of registration for the admission exam. Any candidate who provides false details will be excluded from the course. Graduates are not permitted to take the exam. Art. 4 Disabled candidates In order to ensure equal opportunities during the exam, candidates with disabilities who require extra time and/or specific aids must apply to the Segreteria Studenti of Scienze Politiche, Economiche e Sociali, (Via Santa Sofia 9/1), by 4 May 2015, including certification issued by the competent local healthcare structure, in accordance with law no. 104/92 as subsequently amended. Art. 5 Candidates with SLD Candidates with a diagnosis of specific learning disabilities (s.l.d.) under law no. 70 of 2010 are granted 30% more time than that set for the other candidates. The board can also consent to the use of compensatory tools that, considering the type of test to be taken and the type and degree of the candidate s disability, are necessary to ensure equal opportunities during the exam. To be allowed to use the abovementioned measures, candidates with s.l.d. must apply to the Segreteria Studenti of Scienze Politiche, Economiche e Sociali (Via Santa Sofia 9/1), by 4 May 2015, including appropriate certification issued not more than three years previously by the National Health Service or accredited specialists or facilities. Art. 6 Admission exam schedule and procedure The exam will take place on 9 May 2015 at the premises of the Facoltà di Scienze Politiche, Economiche e Sociali, Via Conservatorio, 7. Details of the time and room where the exam will be held will be 3

published on the web page http://www.unimi.it/studenti/matricole/77610.htm and on the Home page Segreterie Studenti 2 days before the exam. Candidates must arrive for the exam bearing the valid proof of identity indicated in the enrolment phase. The exam will start after the process of identification has taken place. During the exam candidates cannot leave the room, use handwritten notes, texts of any kind, calculators or anything else specified before the start of the exam. Candidates who reside abroad may take the exam online, and will be sent the credentials for accessing the system and any relevant instructions to the email address provided at the time of registration through the portal. Art. 7 Examining board The examining board is appointed by Rector s Decree. During the exam the board will be assisted by staff who will be responsible for supervising and identifying the candidates. Art. 8 Examination programme and assessment criteria The exam consists of an orientation test, for the purpose of self-evaluation of candidates initial knowledge in the following areas (15 questions per area): Italian language, general culture and logicalmathematical reasoning. The results of the examination will provide information on whether the candidates level of basic knowledge meets the required standard for embarking on the particular university course chosen. The result of the assessment will be communicated according to the procedures made known during the exam. The self-assessment test will be supplemented by a test on candidates knowledge of the English language aimed at ascertaining their level of language skill, with a view to organize the available English language courses more efficiently and assessing the possibility of holding lessons in English, as set out in the Study Programme for the different degree courses. The exam will last a total of 90 minutes. Art. 9 - Enrolment Candidates who have taken the exam must register from 15 July to 15 October 2015, following the instructions provided on the website http://www.unimi.it/studenti/segreterie/773.htm Segreterie Studenti page. 4

Before registering online, candidates with qualifications gained abroad who have taken the exam must deliver the following documentation to the International students desk, Via Santa Sofia 9/1, by the deadline set: a) Secondary school diploma, translated into Italian, legalized by the authorities of the country issuing the diploma and accompanied by a Declaration of Value; b) Certificate of enrolment in the university with a list of exams taken, or else a post-secondary qualification gained in a non-university higher education institute if the local education system envisages fewer than 12 years of schooling; c) Certificate of academic eligibility if envisaged in the candidate s country of origin; d) Copy of valid residence permit (for non-eu citizens only).
