Picture 2:The rear panel (take 24 ports product as an example) 1.3 LED Indicators Picture 3: LED Indicators (take 24 ports product as an example) Tenda Fast Ethernet Switch has LINK/ACT indicators and one power indicator. Through these green LED indicators, you can understand the working status of the Switch. The following table delivers the description of these indicators: LED Indicator Status Description POWER ON OFF ON After the Switch connects the power supply well, the Power indicator is always ON. If this indicator is OFF, please check whether the AC power supply connects the Switch properly. When a device connects any port of the Switch well, the corresponding LINK/ACT indicator is ON. 3
Blinking When a port is receiving and transmitting data packets, the corresponding LINK/ACT indicator blinks. The installation method is as below. 1. Install the switch to the 19-inch rack As shown below, use screws to fix 2 delivery-attached mounting ears on 6
both sides of the Switch, Picture 4: installing the rack Mount the Switch into one layer of the rack, and then use screws provided to mount the Switch in the rack. Picture 5: installing the switch to the standard rack Warning : For the sake of safety, please read the installation guide carefully before installation. 2. Install the switch to the desktop In most cases, you may not have the standard 19-inch cabinet, and then you need to place the switch on a clean desktop. Please refer to picture 6. 7
Picture6: install the switch to the desktop You need to pay attention to the following items while operating: Fix the four included plastic pads to the corresponding position at the bottom of the switch. And protect it from sliding and being shocked by other force. Make sure the desktop is steady Leave a -10-cm s room for ventilation Do not place heavy articles on the switch. Please keep good ventilation while installing, the vertical distance should be no less than 1.5 cm when it needs to lay up 2.2 The connection of the switch Every port of Tenda fast Ethernet switches series support Auto MDI/MDIX function. Therefore, whatever the PC, switch, hub or other Ethernet network device, can be connected to any ports of the twisted cable by Cat.5/Cat.5e STP/UTP, and no need for other network devices to supply Uplink port,. Connection method: Connect the network device to the RJ-45 port of the switch by network 8
cable. Use RJ-45 connector(10/100base-tx port). 1. Network connection: Plug the RJ-45 cable to the RJ-45 port, when the switch is well connected to the corresponding device, and the port indicator is on, it indicates the connection is correct. If the Link indicator is still off when the cable and the port are connected, please refer to the Troubleshoots. 2. Disconnection: Press the little protuberance of the plug and pull it out from the outlet Picture 7 :The common method to access the internet 9
3. Troubleshoots 3.1 Solutions to common problems A. When the power indicator is off, the problem may be: The power cord isn t inserted into the AC power, or the power of the switch is damaged. Solutions: Check whether the power cord is inserted into the power outlet and the switch s power outlet; make sure the connection point is not loose. Insert the power cord plug at the rear of the switch once again. If the LED indicator is still off, check whether the AC power supplies well by inserting the power cord into another power outlet or change another power cord If both power and power cord are in good condition, the problem is still there, maybe the power of the switch is damaged, please contact the technology-supported department. B. Link indicator is off, the problem may be: Haven t been connected to the network cable. Used a wrong network cable, or internal crossed network cable. No remote device to be connected 10
The network cable is too long Solutions: Check whether you use the correct network cable. Check whether the network cable is well connected. Check whether there is device to be connected. Check whether the network cable is too long. FCC Statement This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules.
