Mondopad Monitor Firmware Update Process 1) Unzip the self extracting folders to your external PC (not the Mondopad) using the folder defaults as setup in the self extracting file (do not change). Extraction creates a directory called c:\isp which holds the primary upgrade files and a sub folder c:\isp\gprobe V5.7.0.1 where the upgrade utility resides. 2) Change to the c:\isp\gprobe V5.7.0.1 directory then run the GProbe 5.7.0.1.exe flash utility installer file. Follow installation screens throughout the two imbedded application installations as shown below:
Installation of part 1 in progress Start of 2 nd Application installation Installation of part 1 in progress
Leave Launch GProbe 5 Box unchecked 3) You have just installed the required utility now you need to connect up your null modem serial cable from your PC source to the RS232 connector on the rear side of the Mondopad. If you receive the following error message when starting the utility then the COM port is not configured properly as the utility only supports COM1 thru COM8. Should this occur your null modem serial adapter is setup to an unsupported COM port (usually above port 8). To verify which port your serial adapter is configured as you will need to go into your PC Device Manager (My Computer >Device Manager >Ports (COM & LPT) Then Select (highlight) your device, right click and select Properties Port Settings Advanced). Set baud rate at 115,200 8 N & 1 as the panel upgrade runs at this setting. Note the Port setting if already set between Port 1 through 8 for the utility if not you will need to change it to an open port between Port 1 and Port 8 in order to utilize the utility. Note: Make sure that physical/logical COM port in laptop matches COM port configured in GProbe 5 utility. See following steps Note: Although the Mondopad normal serial interface runs at 9600 baud the panel device code upgrade runs at 115,200 baud. Make sure that the utility is setup at this speed (115,200, 8, N, 1).
4) Once changed, go back into the Windows Desktop on your PC and Launch the GProbe 5 shortcut. 5) Once the utility is open you will need to change the COM port setting in the utility to match your previously determined COM Port as shown in Device Manger. To change the port number, select the yellow communication ICON as shown below. Select the Serial Tab and set it for the correct COM Port. Note that you should not change anything else. The utility communicates to the panel processor at 115200, 8, None, & 1 as opposed to normal RS232 communication for CLI control which operates at 9600 baud.
At this point leave the utility open and idle on your external PC You are ready now to setup the Mondopad Panel for the panel level firmware upgrade. If the Mondopad Software is still running ensure that the Mondopad Shell Software is closed by exiting it through the Extras tab Administrative Login. Note: If Mondopad Software is already closed then go on to step 7, otherwise continue to step 6. 6) To close the Mondopad Software Application from Mondopad Home Page, select the Extras Tab, select Admin login. Enter your specific 4 digit administrative login code, and then select Exit Mondopad.
