Introduction: This paper gives you an example of installing RD zenterprise 8.5 using the code downloaded from IBM Passport Advantage or IBM internal XL Leverage. If you will install from DVDs this document might help but you should skip the sections about the downloading. Note that if you have already RDz versions 8.0.1 or 8.0.2 or 8.03 installed you just need to install a new eclipse shell; you can t just upgrade those existing versions When installing RDz Product family, there is two options that you may choose, RDz (standard) or RD zenterprise that includes EGL, Java and Power. This paper will describe the details using RD zenterprise. The installation of RDz (standard) will be much simpler Important: This paper has not being formally reviewed by IBM and any feedback should be to the author above. Finding the products to get it downloaded. For RDz zenterprise components using the Passport advantage (or IBM internal XL Leverage link) do a search using the word Rational Developer for Enterprise V8.5 Page 2

In my scenario I will install Java and EGL and since RD zenterprise includes RAD and RBD you will need to get those components as well. But I will not install the components that are crossed with red lines in the above picture. Note that Installation Manager supports installation pointing directly to the IBM Passport Advantage. This paper will not cover this capability 1- Scenario example: installing RD zenterprise client You could use the previous search, but probably easier to do another search for the part number CRJ0EML: The results are below.. Page 3

You must select what you need.. 1.Downloading the RD zenterprise Client from IBM Passport advantage Download all files to the same folder Page 4

Page 5

Below one example of this download (will differ from your since I had already IBM Data Studio that is 1,243 GB code before) 1.1 Unpacking the downloaded content In my scenario I downloaded 9 files This download is around 6 GB. and may take a while to download. Now you will need to expand the download and will use probably 2 times more the above size I suggest you to create 6 folders (like install Data Studio, Install DB2 connect, Install HATS, Install RDz, Install RTC and install TX Series) Page 6

Move CI6MJML.zip to Install Data Studio folder. Using the folder Install Data Studio unzip. CI6MJML.zip by double clicking on it, then to the same folder (Install Data Studio).. the results will be as below: Move DB2_CPE_10_Win_x86-64.exe and (DB2_CPE_10_Win_x86.exe) (db2 connect) to install DB2 Connect folder. In my scenario I will not show the DB2 connect install since I have it installed already, but better have organized. If you have installed RDz V 8.0 this must be already installed. Using the folder Install DB2 Connect unzip. DB2_CPE_10_Win_x86-64.exe or DB2_CPE_10_Win_x86.exe (32 bit) by double clicking on it, then click Unzip and point to the same folder (Install Db2 Connect).. In my example I used the 64 bit version Page 7

The results will be as below.. This code can be used to install DB2 connect. Move HATS_TOOLKIT_V8.5_MULTI_EIMAGE.zip to Install HATS folder. Using the folder Install HATS unzip. HATS_TOOLKIT_V8.5_MULTI_EIMAGE.zip by double clicking on it, then to the same folder (Install Data Studio).. The results will be as below: Page 8

Move RTC_ENT_EDITION_CLIENT_V8.5_EIMAGE.zip to Install RTC folder. Using the folder Install RTC unzip. RTC_ENT_EDITION_CLIENT_V8.5_EIMAGE.zip by double clicking on it, then to the same folder (Install Data Studio).. The results will be as below. Note that we shipped RTC versions 3 and 4. Move CZ0TTIML.exe and CZ0TWML.tar (will not use since its for Linux) to Install TXSeries folder. Using the folder install TXSeries unzip CZ0TTIML.exe double clicking on it: This will be used for TXSeries install.. If you have installed RDz V 8.0 this must be already installed. Page 9

Move other RDz files to the install RDz folder Using the folder Install RDz unzip. RDZ_ENTERPRISE_V8.5_EIMAGE.zip by double clicking on it, then to the same folder (Install Data Studio).. The result will be: If you want can also unzip RDZ_ENTERPRISE_V8.5_QSG_EIMAGE.zip that are the docs, but this is not required for the install. Once the folders are built, you could delete the *.zip files to free space: Page 10

2. Downloading the RBD (EGL) from IBM Passport advantage Download all files to the same folder as you did downloaded the other components (RD zenterprise Client (CRJ0EML) in my scenario Page 11

2.1 Unpacking the downloaded content For EGL you will need to download 3 files (the quick start was already downloaded) This download is around 6.5 GB. and may take a while to download. Now you will need to expand the download and will use probably 2 times more the above size Move the RBD 3 parts to Install RDz. Using the folder Install RDz unzip. The 3 parts by double clicking on it, then to the same folder (Install RDz).. the results will be as below: Page 12

3. Downloading the RAD from IBM Passport advantage RAD has many components that you may need. In my scenario I want to have RAD and J2C connectors since I have CICS amd may need it. In the picture below I shown the ONLY selected components that I need to download in order to have such capabilities. Download all files to the same folder as you did downloaded the other components (RDz Client zenterprise (CRJ0EML) GA - June 201) in my scenario Page 13

3.1 Unpacking the downloaded content For RAD you will need to download 5 files (the quick start was already downloaded) This download is around 6.9 GB. and may take a while to download. This is after the download.. Now you will need to expand the download and will use probably 2 times more the above size Move the RAD parts to Install RDz. Using the folder Install RDz unzip. the 5 parts by double clicking on it, then to the same folder (Install RDz).. The results will be as below: Page 14

4 - Starting the RD zenterprise client installation..--> There is different ways to install RD zenterprise. I decided to install RAD, RBD and RDz at once. Later I can install other components. This way if something goes wrong you can fix just the step and will not waste too much time in case you have the errors after long time.. It s your choice, follow this example or install all at components at once or just one. The IBM product that installs Rational products is called Installation Manager (IM). You may have already this installed, but you will need the IM version 1.4.4 to make the installs defined here. In this example I will assume that Installation Manager was already installed on your computer. If IM is NOT installed it will prompt to install then you later resume the RD zenterprise install. 4.1 - Install RD zenterprise 1. To Install RD zenterprise, go to the folder install RDz, expand RDz85Ent_Setup and double click on launchpad.exe. I suggest you to install as administrator access if possible. Some other products may require Installation Manager (IM) as administrator. 2. Select the Install Rational Developer for System z, select install for all users (if possible) and click Start guided installation Page 15

3. Select the environment that you need as an example below and click Continue Installation. I will install RTC later. 4. Check the components as below and click Next, Page 16

5 Click Next: for Install Packages 6. Accept the license, click Next 7. I will use another package name (SDP85) and I will use 32 bit. Version. IMPORTANT NOTE: I could install the 64 bit version, but since I want to share the Eclipse shell with IBM Data Studio, I MUST use the 32 bit version since so far we don t have the IBM Data Studio 64 bit version. Click Next. I will use the existing shared code Page 17

8. Select Next (unless you want to extend your already existing eclipse and wants to share on same shell, that I do not recommend). 9. Take the English default and click Next 10. Expand RAD (IBM Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software).. Since my scenario has z/os CICS I will also selected the J2C (java connectors) and WebSphere adapters to be installed. Scroll down to the end and select the components that are not selected if you want them.. Page 18

11. Still in this dialog, expand RDz and select the features that were not selected by default 12. Click Next. If you want to have a local Help when using RDz, you have to select. The default access the help from the Web, that may require some customizations if firewall is in effect. Other option is to have the help on a server using your intranet.. The default is via Web. Note: When selecting Download help only limited help content is included during installation. When you first start the product, the complete online help is downloaded and installed provided that you have an Internet connection. On subsequent startups, available updates to the help are downloaded and installed.and click Next. Page 19

13. I could configure the z/os connection now if already have the z/os components installed or later in my example I will do later and clicked Next. ERROR? Here an example where you are missing components.. RD zenterprise needs also RAD and RBD (EGL). You need to get it and re-start the installation. Page 20

14 Verify the RAD, RBD and RDz choices and click Install The installation without WebSphere took less than 25 minutes, when installing on Windows 7. You can see the progress bar in the bottom. When complete you will have an Installation Successful message. Page 21

15 Click Finish to start RDz. At this point you may find specify a location for your workspace or should the default. In my example I selected the location as below: Do no select the option Use this as default and do not ask again, since you may have other workspaces created in this dialog.. RD zenterprise will be started. 16. Click on Ignore. You may solve the license issue later, for now just Ignore the dialog:later in this paper we explain how to install the licenses. If you decided to install the local help, the startup may take a while as seen below. The basic RD zenterprise installation is complete and you are ready to install other components now. Page 22

4.2 - Creating the RD zenterprise Help Indexes (Optional) The first time that you use the Help an index is created. I suggest you to create this now, so when you need it will be already there.. Select Help Help Contents. Type any world like XML and click Go. The index will be created and will take few minutes. Close all dialogs 5 - Installing the RDz, RBD and RAD licenses key The products that you installed are Trial until you install the license key for each one. You might have already the license keys, but if not might need to logon to a Rational Web Site to get it. I have used the site: https://www-01.ibm.com/software/rational/support/licensing/ And Page 23

Note that you need three licenses.. RDz, RAD and RBD 1. You must download and unzip. Files named xxxxxxxx_activation.zip are created. Unzip to any folder as the example below: Exit the install 2. Using Installation Manager select Manage Licenses. Page 24

3. Select the product to be activated and choose Import product Activation Kit (or Configure Floating license support if you have floating licenses) Note that you need three licenses.. One for RAD, other for RBD and other for RDz. 4. Point to the JAR file that has the RAD license Key, click Next: Page 25

5 Accept the terms and click Finish 6. The license is imported.. 7 Repeat for RDz and RBD. Selecting Import product Activation Kit 8. The final results will be as below. Page 26

6 - Installing TXSeries (need for CICS local Syntax checking) The example below was created using RDz version 8.03, not RDz version 8.5. But it will be similar. I suggest you to install the TXSeries if you have CICS, but it is considered optional software. You may need to start the installation dialog again: You may now install the Optional Software selecting Install optional software or can do it later finding where TXSeries is downloaded and just installing. 1. To install TXSeries now, click Launch installation and point to where you have downloaded the TXSeries code and click OK as shown below: 2. Select English and OK 3. Click Next, accept the license and use all the defaults as below: Page 27

4. Installation is quick ( 2 or 3 minutes). Exit the installation Dialog when finished. Note: if you have Rational Software architect (RSA) may consider installing the UML profiles in case you have downloaded this feature. This is the UML to COBOL transformation capability of RDz. 7 - Installing RTC Client for Windows RTC (Rational Team Concert) client is a free plug-in. You need to have RTC Server at least at level 3.0.1.3 or version 4.0 to match that plug-in version 3.0.1.3 Below you can see the example sequence. 1. Using Installation Manager (IM) select File Preferences 2. Add the RTC client repository (Jazz client). This RTC client must match with the RTC server. Note that the RTC client version 3.0.1.3 will connect to RTC version 4 server. But RTC Client version 4.0 needs RTC Server version 4.0. Select Repositories, click Add Repository and point to Install RTC where you downloaded the code and click OK. In my example is Install RTC\RTC301\disk1\diskTag.inf Page 28

3 Since we are installing RTC in RDZ you will also need the RTC Client Extensions for the RDz. This component is in another folder. Still using the Preferences and Repositories dialog click Add Repository and point to Install RTC where you downloaded the code from IBM. and click OK. In my example is Install RTC\RTCz8032\disk1\diskTag.inf 4. The result will be as below. Click OK. 5.. Using IM select Install 6. Select RTC Client for eclipse IDE and click Next: Page 29

7. Accept the license, and click Next 8. Select Use the existing package group, since you want the plug-in as part of RDz and click Next 9 Verify the components to be installed and click Next: Page 30

10 Review the package to be installed and click Install 11 This installation can be around 10 minutes. On my windows 7 it took 6 min. When the installation is over you will have the message as below. 12. Click Finish. Page 31

8 - Installing Data Studio on top of RD zenterprise. In this example since we have DB2 we ant to use Data Studio. And we will install on same eclipse shell as RD zenterprise version 8.5 In our example this code is at: 1. Using Installation Manager (IM) select File Preferences 2. Add the Data Studio repository. Select Repositories, click Add Repository and point to Install Data Studio where you downloaded the code and click OK. In my example is Install Data Studio\disk1\diskTag.inf Page 32

3.. Using IM select Install 4. Select IBM Data Studio full client and click Next: 7. Accept the license, and click Next 8. Select Use the existing package group, since you want the plug-in as part of RD zenterprise and click Next Page 33

9 Verify the components to be installed and click Next: 10 Use the Help from web (default) 11. Review the package to be installed and click Install Page 34

12 When the installation is over you will have the message as below. 12. Click Finish. Page 35

9 - Installing WebSphere Application Server (WAS) test client on same eclipse shell. In this example the user decided to have WAS version 7.0 Test environment on top of RDz version 8.03. With RDz version 8.5 would be similar 1. Start IBM Installation Manager using: Programs IBM Installation Manager IBM Installation Manager 2. Using Installation Manager select File Preferences 3. Add WAS repository: select Repositories, click Add Repository and point to WAS70 repository where you downloaded the code from IBM. And click OK. In my example is \WAS70\disk1\diskTag.inf 4.. Click Test connections to be sure it found it and click OK. 5. Back to the dialogs, select Install. Page 36

6. Verify the package that will be modified and click Next. 7 Verify the language and click Next 8. Under RAD, select that you will add WAS 7.0.. 9. Scroll Down and be sure that the JCA connectors are also selected Page 37

10. Verify the changes that will take in effect (in this example adding WAS v 7.0) and click Modify: If you don t need Tools for developing applications without local server, do not select. The install might be shorter. Probably the time was long since the IM was getting code from IBM servers at slow 50kb/s. 11 Click Finish to complete.. This installation on my Windows 7 took around 80 minutes. 10. Now you must install the WAS 7.0. Using IM select Install 12. Select WAS 7.0 and click Next: Page 38

13. Accept the Package where it will be installed and click Next 14. Verify the components to be installed and click Next: 15. Unless necessary uncheck Enable administrative security on the profile, use the default values (unless need to change it) and click Next. Page 39

16. Verify the components that will be installed and click Install 17 Be patient. This can take around 30 minutes. On my windows 7 it took 25 min. When the installation is over you will have the message as below. 18. Click Finish. Page 40

10 - Installing RDz Server Components on the mainframe User has no choices here. The code downloaded must be uploaded to the z/os. The same code applies for RDz (standard) and RD zenterprise in the z/os. The RDz server components can be located searching for part number CRJ0FML. Below it shows a way to find the RDz server v 8.5using the search. Download all files to the same folder Page 41

10.1 - RDz code to be installed on z/os The server code is to be used by the z/os system programmer. Users won t do any work here. This is a quick download (3 to 4 minutes?). After downloading the server code you will have: Unzip the file RDZ_8.5_ZOS_SMPE_INST_DISK_EIMAGE.zip (don t need the others). After unzipping to the same directory you will have the content as shown below.. Again this is for the z/os administrator (system programmer) only. The Remote System Explorer communications server (RSE server) is installed on a remote AIX, Intel Linux, or Linux on System z system. If you will install RSE in any of those environments, the you will use the folder below:. Install RSE on AIX, Linux or zlinux is a non usual environment. Most of our customers install RSE ONLY on the z/os System To install the RSE on your z/os system you will use the folder below.. See the program Directory and Host Configuration Guide for details. Page 42

11 - Updating the installed client with latest fixes for all installed products. The examples below was done using RDz Version 7.6, but still applies for any version. You must see that as an example.. If you have many workstations probably is easier to download and install the fixes in a local disk, then using Installation Manager pointing to this repository. If the example below I am using the Installation Manager capability of searching all fixes in the remote repository using the Web connection. The example below was build using the version downloaded in Oct 2011. As you see there was updates in Feb 08, 2012 that elevate RDz to level 8.0.3 and other products as well.. 1.Start Installation Manager if not already started: 2. Select Update 3. If your USB drive (with the software that you have it downloaded is not connected anymore you may receive the message below.. Just click OK and ignore. Optionally you could select File Preferences repositories and unselect the repositories added there. Also be prepared to use the repositories that you had used during the basic installs, It may ne necessary. In this case use File preferences repositories to add those back. 4. Select the package to be updated (I have only one in my example) and click Next: Page 43

5. If you will download from IBM servers, you MUST have connection to the IBM external web page. The Installation Manager will retrieve all possible fixes and you will see the progress.. This might take a while, especially if your connection to the web is not fast In my example the IBM servers were slow and this whole operation took more than one hour. 6. You must verify the fixes (you may unselect ones that you don t want now.. and click Next.: 7. Accept the license and click Next Verify again and click Next 8. When all fixes are collected, click Update.. Be patient the fixes may take a while... Note if you decided to update also WAS 7.0 this may take more than one hour _.. Page 44

9. When complete the message will be similar to the one below. 12. To be sure that there is no MORE fixes to apply.. Check updates again 13. You should have something like below.. Page 45

12 - Cleaning the PC with old Installation Manager Updates Installation Manager keeps the old versions of the code. If you are sure that the updates are OK and wants to erase the old code to reclaim space in disk: 1, Start Installation Manager and select File Preferences 2. Click on Files for Rollback 3. Click on Delete Saved Files you will save some space. In my example 2.7 GB Page 46
