Installation package consist of two setup files. - 5nine.EasyBackup.AgentSetup.msi must be deployed on all Hyper-V hosts/nodes; - 5nine.EasyBackup.Setup.msi must be deployed on backup server (in particular it can be one of the Hyper-V hosts);
During EASY Backup Server installation you will be asked to supply some information: - On the screen below you should provide credentials of domain user who has access to Hyper-V machines and to the SQL Server. Under these credentials 5nine.vMonitor service will be executed. NOTE: Best practice is to not use existing real user account, but to create dedicated user with corresponding rights and assign it to the service. - The next screen will ask you for settings to set up database connection. Set sql instance name and authentication mode.
After setup finishes the 5nine EASY Backup Management service will be automatically started. Installing Agent on Host/Nodes does not require supplying any additional information. Management Console After you run Management Console you will prompted which server you want connect.
To begin working firstly you must add DataCenter object. There is toolbar in the left upper corner.
You must specify the name of DataCenter, and optionally Login and Password of windows (domain) user under which information will be collected from objects. In most cases you can leave these empty then will be used credentials under which service is running. In case if you have several datacenters belonging to different domains then of course you must specify credentials for each of the datacenters. During EASY Backup application functioning these credentials will flow from root objects to its descendants, however you can always specify for some of the descendants its own credentials. After DataCenter added, you can select it in the tree view and then other menus will be un-grayed. You can edit properties of the selected object, remove it, or refresh tree. Also on selecting DataCenter item, there will be un-grayed dropdown menus for adding other types of objects: Cluster and Host.
Click on Add Cluster and fill address in the appeared dialog. You can then expand tree and navigate through its nodes and VMs.
To perform backup operation just click Backup button in toolbar or corresponding menu. Backup Wizard will appear: After you enter the job name, you must select storage where archives will be stored. If you have no any storage click <Add New> in combo box. Storages settings will appear where you can click Add button to create new storage.
On the next page you should select entities which to backup. You can select as high level objects (such as cluster, host, node or even datacenter) as individual VMs.
The next page you must set when Job should be executed, and if applicable you can set recurrent options on daily, weekly or monthly basis. Then review all backup settings and click Finish.
If you chose to run Job immediately the corresponding job appear in list of Jobs for all related entities. You can track its state by opening log details of the job in context menu. After job successfully finished the backup instance will appear in Backup list for all entities that was backed up during this job. Clicking on the any node (datacenter, host, node or vm) in the objects tree will display available backup instances and all related jobs ever executed. For example picture below shows all backups and jobs performed for host HV2. Also on selecting datacenter will be displayed all backups and jobs of all its descendant entities and so on for clusters, hosts/nodes.
Right Click on any item in Jobs list will show following context menu. For failed jobs you can execute Retry action. For active running jobs you can break the operation by clicking Stop. Double clicking on any item in Job list will display log details of the job.
Double clicking on any item in Backups list will display Restore Wizard. You can change default job name on yours. And select on which host/node you wish to restore. Next page you must specify which VMs contained in the backup you want restore.
Then review selected settings before to submit job. After you finish the wizard, job will be created and will be displayed immediately in the list of Jobs.
