John Mott For assuming responsibility for publication of the Newsletter and assuming the Financial Officer position ( We are hoping he can count as well as he writes) Bruce Shuman for taking on the VP position Grant Hile for again adding historical continuity to the board as well as his willingness to provide technical support to the membership (Odessa Engineering at its finest) Mary and Steve Solomon for hosting four great parties each year John Mitchell for his previous tenure on the BOD and again volunteering to restock the fridge in 2011 Mary Anne Hile, Lynn and Mac Armitage for staying involved and keeping us all out of trouble For spouses who, without their support, would have us holding purses at the mall instead of happily trekking cross country on two wheels (Maybe not Bruce but you get the point) Inside this issue: From the President 1 Calendar Updates 1 OA Test 2 Oh Crap Photos 2 Special Trip Report 3 Trivia Quiz Answers 4 Club Info. 5 JAN 7th - Board and Club meeting. FACTOID: Although BMW claims it has been making Boxer twins continually since 1923, production stopped for a few months in 1986 when the company decided its future lay in triples and fours. Customer outrage persuaded the Germans to restart the twin-cylinder engine production lines. TRIP REPORT: The Christian Motorcyclists Association had their annual ride on December 29th. The CMA is an international Christian, interdenominational, non-profit organization established in 1975. It turned out to be close to perfect riding weather. The club historically has supported this great organization and continued to do so on Saturday. Grant Hile, John Mitchell, Charlie Hile, Carson Hile, Dan Carbone, Al Willianson, Bruce Schuman, Tony 2 and Frank Brown represented GEMC. Good food and fun was had by all. The next scheduled event for the CMA will be posted in the GEMC newsletter when available. FACTOID: The first rider to ever go over 300mph was Don Vesco in 1975, on a 1496cc Yamaha-engined streamliner. 3
