INTRODUCTION This Installation Guide elaborates the installation of SmartWord4TFS using detailed steps. The guide is divided into the following two sections: 1. System Requirements 2. Installing SmartWord4TFS The first section deals with what a user would require for installing the SmartWord4TFS application and the second section elaborates the actual installation procedure. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS 1. Windows 10 /8.1/ 8 / 7 2. Microsoft Word* 2016/2013/2010/2007/365 ProPlus 3. Microsoft Team Explorer* 2015/ 2013/2012/2010 4. Microsoft.Net Framework 4.5 5. Internet Explorer 9 or higher Microsoft Word*: 1. Microsoft Word 2016 a. If there exists any other Service pack provided by Microsoft, user must have that SP installed OR 2. Microsoft Word 2013 a. Service Pack 1 b. If there exists any other Service pack provided by Microsoft, user must have that SP installed OR 2. Microsoft Word 2010 a. Service Pack 1 (must be installed before SP2) b. Service Pack 2 (must be installed after SP1) c. If there exists any other Service pack provided by Microsoft, user must have that SP installed d. Microsoft Office 2010 Primary Interop Assemblies OR 3. Microsoft Word 2007 a. Service Pack 1 (must be installed before SP2) b. Service Pack 2 (must be installed before SP3) c. Service Pack 3 d. Microsoft Team Explorer*: a. Visual Studio 2015, Team Explorer 2015 Or b. Visual Studio 2013, Team Explorer 2013, TFS 2013 Object Model, Visual Studio 2013 Update 5 must be installed Or c. Visual Studio 2012, Team Explorer 2012, TFS 2012 Object Model, Visual Studio 2012 Update 5 must be installed Or d. Visual Studio 2010, Team Explorer 2010, TFS 2010 Object Model, Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack Note: If all prerequisites are installed and even Smart Word 4 TFS doesn t get load, then uninstall SmartWord4TFS, PIA and VSTO respectively, and then install all again in the following sequence. 1. PIA 2. VSTO 3. Smart Word 4 TFS *This case happens mostly in Office 2007, make sure above mentioned patch is installed. *It is highly recommended to use same or higher version of Team Explorer/Visual Studio as of Team Foundation Server. SmartOffice doesn't support "standalone TFS client for 2013" or Team Explorer HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS 1. RAM: At least 4GB (higher required if executing TFS Work Item queries greater than 100,000). 2. Hard Drive Space: 500 MB for SmartWord4TFS only. This does not include Hard Drive space required for pre-requisite software. INSTALLING SMARTWORD4TFS INSTALLATION GUIDELINES The Installation files are provided to the users either in 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) versions depending upon their version of Microsoft Word installed (i.e. x86 or x64). A 32bit (x86) version of SmartWord4TFS cannot be installed on a machine with Microsoft Word 64bit (x64) installed on it and vice versa. Most of the pre-requisite software tools (Office Interop Assemblies, VSTO and TFS Object Models) are also provided with to the users, in case they do not have them installed on their machines. However User has to get Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Word on his own. It s better to install the pre-requisite software tools before commencing the installation of SmartWord4TFS, however in case they are not installed, the installer for SmartWord4TFS automatically installs these tools before starting the installation of SmartWord4TFS itself. INSTALLATION PROCESS 1. Navigate to the desired folder (online or offline) for relevant type of installation. 2014-2015 edev Technologies Page 3 of 9
2. Run the SmartWord4TFS.exe file (SmartWord4TFS.iso in case you choose to install through it) Note: The above screenshot shows the online installer. The iso file is available as an offline installer 2014-2015 edev Technologies Page 4 of 9
3. Click the Next Button to start the installation process. 4. Read the License Agreement, select I Agree option and click the Next Button. 2014-2015 edev Technologies Page 5 of 9
5. Set the desired installation location and the relevant user accounts then click the Next Button. 6. Select the desired mode (Author or Reviewer) and click the Next Button. 2014-2015 edev Technologies Page 6 of 9
