Career opportunities Eric Hansson 27 years Education: Master of Science in Building and Real Estate Economics During the work on my master's thesis I came across an ad for the Akelius Brainee program. It instantly appealed to me. After exchange studies and internships abroad, I had a whetted appetite to gain further experiences from the global real estate sector. Now, being at the end of the program, I can without any doubts say that it has been the perfect step in to the industry. After starting in Stockholm with letting, property and asset management, I moved on to London working with business analysis and controlling. Berlin was next, where I did transactions and valuations. Throughout the program I ve been assigned great responsibilities within many fields. It has been an excellent way to learn and a chance to influence on how we operate within the company. I was also given the opportunity to attend the Akelius University, an international MBA with focus on presentations and reports. Today I m working on an extensive implementation of a brand new business system. It s an exciting project where I get to apply my assembled skills and benefit from my enterprise social network.
Jenni Fliegner My expectations were high when I found the job opening for the Brainee Program of Akelius in summer 2012. Having studied and lived in different countries I was eager to start my career in an international company with the possibility to continue to live and work in new places. My economical background gave me a profound understanding of numbers and economies in general. For the real estate business, however, I had to start from scratch. Starting with lettings, property management and asset management in Hamburg I got to know the core business. Later on I got an overview of our key figures due to my experiences in controlling in Malmö. Furthermore, this knowledge served as a good introduction to my most recent work as business developer in London. Thanks to the Akelius University and additional projects I could deepen my theoretical knowledge and learn a lot about our business model in detail. After one and a half years with Akelius I can conclude that my expectations were right to be high.
Julia Reif The decision to participate the Akelius Brainee program was easily made, when I heard about the diversified structure of the 24 month program. My work within Akelius began on a flight to Cyprus, where we had the first intense session of the Akelius University. The mix of knowledge transfer and meeting new colleagues from Germany and Sweden was a perfect introduction to the company. The first months I worked mainly with Property and Asset Management, guided by my experienced colleagues from Berlin. The next stations I spend in Stockholm, where I worked with corporatecontrolling and business analysis and Toronto, where I focused on transactions and valuation. Both stays abroad gave me the opportunity to think outside the box and learn about new markets. My tasks were complex and I had the opportunity to work independently and responsibly. Right now all trainees are working on a global project. But in a couple of month the program is over and I am excited about the options within the company. Akelius is a very vital and dynamic company and offers motivated employees many perspectives. I can highly recommend to attend the program since the learning effect is huge and the work within the company fun.
Lennart Mumm Education: Engineering physics with a major in statistics and financial mathematics. After graduation in 2012 I started working as a trainee at Akelius. In the program there were five major blocks: letting, i.e. I leased residential apartments in Stockholm; property and asset management in Stockholm, where work duties included both service toward the existing tenants as well as the overall economic picture of the properties controlling and business analysis in Toronto, e.g. I created an automated tool compiling the numbers for the monthly and quarterly reports as a temporary solution until a new software system could be implemented transactions and valuations in Hamburg, i.e. I was involved in the step by step acquisition of new properties from prospect and valuation to signing and payment in addition to the valuation of our internal portfolio; and being a core member in the implementation of a software system in Toronto together with describing and devising our internal processes. Upon completion of the trainee program in 2014 an extensive and diverse understanding of the real estate business has been acquired.
