1.0 System Overview D6Direct is a tool developed by the BASF Documentum development team which allows users to browse, view, search, print and email controlled documents contained in a Documentum Repository without requiring the user to login to the system. 2.0 Using D6Direct D6Direct allows read-only users the ability to browse a Documentum repository. Documents may be views and/or printed, printed documents will contain a printed stamp indicating the object name, print date/time and other information specific to the document. Only active PDF renditions are displayed to the D6Direct user. These documents are read only, if editing of these documents is required, the user is required to uses the Documentum Webtop application. Screen Description 1. Breadcrumb navigation. Used to navigate through repository structure. 2. Command line. Lists the functions used in D6Direct.

3. Starts With. Used to filter the list to only show those items that begin with certain text. 4. Column properties. Used to change the list of attributes displayed. 5. Items per page. Sets the number of items displayed. Navigating a repository You navigate a Documentum repository by double clicking the folder you would like to open. There may be many levels within any given folder in a Documentum structure. To navigate up the tree structure, use breadcrumb navigation located on the upper left side of the D6Direct pane. Selecting a Document or Folder You select a document or folder by clicking the left mouse button once while the mouse cursor is located over the desired item. Once the item is selected, you may perform operations on it as described below. Viewing a Document There are several ways to view a document in D6Direct. Double click the left mouse button while the mouse cursor is located over the desired item Click the right mouse button while located on the item. Select View to view the document.

Select the document than select View from the Command line. Printing a Document There are multiple ways to print a document in D6Direct. Click the right mouse button while located on the item. Select Print to print the document. Select the document than select Print from the Command line.

Once the print command has been executed, the document will be displayed in Adobe and the print dialog box is presented. Select the desired printer and select OK. Emailing a Document There are multiple ways to select the email command in D6Direct. Click the right mouse button while located on the item. Select Email to email the document. Select the document than select Email from the Command line.

Once the Email command has been executed, the email form is displayed. Fill in the form as desired. Once complete select OK. Selecting the columns that appear in lists Select column properties, the Preferences screen is displayed. Select the desired object type from the list provided.

Default Items. Will change the columns for folder and documents displayed. Document. Will change columns for documents only. Folders will continue to use the default. Folder. Will change the columns for folders only. Documents will continue to use the default. Once the object type is selected, move the desired attributes from the Select attributes to display box to the Select attributes to display as column box using the left/right arrows. Use the up/down arrow located to the right to select the attributes position. Select the Reset to defaults button to reset back to the default settings. Searching To search for a document using D6Direct select the Search command from the command line. The search screen is displayed.

Enter the word you would like to search for in the text field provided. Select Name Search to search by document name or select Full Search to execute a full text search on document contents. Once the search has competed, the search results screen is displayed as follows:
