PDW-HD1500, PDW-F1600 v 1.63 [Description] Version V1.63 and the software upgrade key PDBZ-UPG02 are now available. When the software upgrade key PDBZ-UPG02 is installed in the product that is already upgraded to version V1.63, the chargeable option function will become ready to use. Do not downgrade the software versions. If you experience an issue with the 1.63 firmware please contact Sony Support. [Precaution before Starting Version Upgrade] 1. For the products whose version is V1.13 or lower, be sure to upgrade to V1.23 before implementing this upgrade. 2. When the version is upgraded, the Menu items are amended. Therefore, it is recommended that users create a backup copy of Menu settings before starting version upgrade. Create a backup copy of the Setup Menu in the USB memory by referring to the Operation Manual Section 7 Maintenance Menu - M462 SAVE MENU DATA. 3. Upgrade the version of the related models connected in combination as listed below: PDW-510/510P, PDW-530/530P, PDW-539P, PDW-1500, PDW-V1, PDW-R1, PDW- D1, PDWF350/F355, PDW-F330/F335, PDW-F70/F75, PDW-F30 and PDW- 70MD/75MD. If the above equipment is used in combination with this model, use the software version V1.56 or higher for these models. (Reference: The latest version of the Phase2/2A models is V1.98.) PDW-U1 If PDW-U1 is used in combination with this model, upgrade the version of the XDCAM DRIVE SOFTWARE for PDW-U1 to V2.3.0 or higher. PDZ-1 Use version V2.70 or higher. If the version V1.03 is used, when the HDCA-702 DVB-ASI output is converted to the TS signal and is connected to PDW-HD1500/F1600 (PDBK-201) under the 720p system environment, the TC signal of the image that is transmitted by TS may sometimes be shifted by one frame. When the cart interface program PDJ-CS10 is used, and when the version V1.50 or higher is installed in the PDW-HD1500/F1600 that is installed in the professional disc cart machine PDJ-A640 or PDJ-C1080, the software of the PDJ-CS10 should also be upgraded at the same time. 4. It is safe to upgrade the products that are manufactured with V1.51 or lower, to version V1.52 or higher. If a product with a default version of V1.52 or higher is downgraded to V1.51 or lower, the product does not start up after downgrade. Therefore, NEVER perform the Version Downgrade operation. In order to use it as the microphone input, change the maintenance menu M393: AUDIO DSP setting from linear edit to AGC/limiter. -Live Logging Function The Live Logging function enables operator to send/receive planning metadata and proxy AV data between the computer and this equipment during recording. [Setup menu item 258: LIVE LOGGING MODE] In order to enable the Live Logging function and perform recording, connect the equipment to a network and set the LIVE LOGGING MODE to live mode or live view mode. -HTTP Download Function Not only the FTP download but the HTTP download is also supported. -FF/REW Maximum Speed Supported [Setup menu item 102: MAXIMUM SPEED] Setting the search speed of the F.FWD/F.REV mode (forward/reverse direction highspeed search) and shuttle mode is enabled. -Forward Direction Variable and Repeat Playback Supported [Setup menu item 142: REPEAT MODE] The repeat playback is enabled not only during the playback mode but also during the forward direction variable speed playback from 0 to +1 time speed. In addition to it, another choice force is added that enables repeat playback even with the PLAY or VAR FWD command from the REMOTE (9-pin) terminal. The Operation Manual describes the variable speed playback in the range of 0 to +2 times speed, but the correct range is 0 to +1 time speed. This is an error in the Operation Manual. This will be corrected when the revised version is published. -Essence Mark Record Mode Supported [Setup menu item 669: ESSENCE MARK RECORD MODE] A menu is added that restricts the entry of the essence mark only during the record mode when a switcher is connected. -Linear Edit Mode (Extra Mode) Supported
[Maintenance Menu item M394: HD L.EDIT] The edit mode (extra mode) supporting general HD422 clips is supported. The clip that is edited in the Extra mode cannot be re-edited by the equipment with the software version before 1.60, or by this equipment if it is set to Standard Mode. To use the equipment in the Extra mode, set all of the equipment that are connected to the editing system to the Extra mode. -Down-converter Output LEGALIZE Supported [Setup menu item 944: LEGALIZE] This function enables an operator to set whether or not to suppress video signals lower than the pedestal level in the converter output. -Clip Name Display Added to Sub Status Display [Setup menu item 017: SUB STATUS DISPLAY SELECT] Name is added as a choice to enable display of the clip name that is being recorded or played back. -Clip Information Display Expanded The clip name that is displayed as the clip information on the front panel display screen can be selected from clip name/clip list name, title 1 and title 2, in accordance with the setting in the Disc Menu. -Web Thumbnail Function Expanded The representative image change mark, S mark, clip flag icon and lock icon are added to the web thumbnail screen. The default value of the sub item 1 NAMING FORM is changed from C**** (standard format) to free (arbitrary format). You can back up and recall the existing menu settings by saving and recalling them from the maintenance menu (items M462, Save Menu Data, and M463, Load Menu Data ). Refer to Chapter 7 of the Operations manual for more information on navigating the Maintenance Menu and saving/restoring user settings. -Do not remove power to the PDW-HD1500 while the upgrade is being performed. Doing so may render the unit inoperable. -Do not upgrade to 1.63 from versions earlier than 1.23. -It is safe to upgrade models that are manufactured with V1.51 or lower, to version V1.52 or higher. If a product with a default version of V1.52 or higher is downgraded to V1.51 or lower, the product will be inoperable after the downgrade. Installing the Software: 1. Copy the software package file to the root directory (top level) of the USB drive. 2. Power on the PDW-HD1500 and insert the USB drive into the USB port on the rear panel of the unit. If the USB drive has a status light, the light will blink for a few seconds as the drive is registered.
3. Enable the Maintenance Menu. This menu is accessed by pressing MENU while holding down the SHIFT and HOME buttons. When the Maintenance Menu is displayed, use the arrow keys to navigate to page M3 Others, then to category M3E USB Memory Util, then to item M3E3 Package Update. Press the right arrow key to enter the Package Update area. The PDW will check the attached USB drive for the package file. 4. When the package file is recognized, the display will show the existing package version, the upgrade package version, and a prompt to continue. Press the SET button to begin the upgrade. 5. The firmware update will begin. A status indication will show on the display. The upgrade takes roughly 20 minutes to complete. 6. When the upgrade is finished, Completed along with the new version information and a prompt to cycle the power on the PDW will appear on the display. Turn the deck off/on. 7. After cycling the power on the deck, enter the Maintenance Menu again and perform a Reset All Setup. Reset All Setup is item M49 and is located in under M4 Setup Maintenance. Rev032310a_ic
