Read All Instructions General and Specific Safety Warnings 1. Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles during assembly and set-up. DO NOT replace old batteries with those of different types, charge levels, or capacities. It is important to always install new, fresh batteries identical to those included with this Lamp Post Light. 3. Keep the Solar Panel (1) clean. A dirty Solar Panel (1) will not allow sufficient sunlight to properly charge Batteries (5). 5. Warn children and others, that this Lamp Post Light is sturdy, but is not meant for overly hard wear. It should not have heavy weights leaned against it, or be used to swing around on. Maintain labels and nameplates on this Lamp Post Light. These carry important information. 6. Lighting Batteries These warnings, precautions and instructions discussed in this instruction manual cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors which cannot be built into this (or any) product, but must be supplied by the operator. Save these instructions. Unpacking When unpacking, check to make sure that the item is intact and undamaged. If any parts are missing or broken, please call Harbor Freight Tools at the number shown on the cover of this manual as soon as possible. Set Up Instructions Read the entire Important Safety Instructions section at the beginning of this manual including all text under subheadings therein before set up or use of this product. NOTE: For additional information regarding the parts listed in the following pages, refer to the Assembly Diagram on page 6 of this manual. 1. 3. Assembly Before assembly, remove the Lamp Head Cover (2) and turn the Switch (22) to ON. This will allow the Batteries to charge and allow the Lamp Post Light to operate. Replace the Lamp Head Cover. This Lamp Post Light should be securely positioned for use in an area where it will receive constant sunlight. It should not be placed where trees or structures might block out the sun. This will assure maximum solar charging and longest light life at night. Replace the Battery Cover (4). Mount Lamp Base (17) to pre-drilled wood, or concrete sub base using 4 Expansion Bolts (18). NOTE: Expansion Bolts (18) should be driven into pre-drilled holes in concrete with a hammer. The threaded ends of the bolts will stick up through the holes in the Lamp Base (17) where a nut should be threaded onto each of them. Lead anchors can also be used by tapping them into predrilled holes, then use large hex-head screws through the holes in the Lamp Base (17) and into the anchors. 5. 6. 7. Thread Lower Support Shaft (15) to Base (17). Thread Upper Support Shaft (14) to Lower Support Shaft (15). Thread Aluminum Lamp Frame (13) to Upper Support Shaft (14). See Figure 2 for steps 3 through 5. accidently (or purposely) turned off. Turn the Switch (22) back on so it will automatically turn on at dusk. WARNING! Do not dispose of old batteries in normal refuse. Dispose of old/ used batteries following all Local, State and Federal rules and regulations. NEVER INCINERATE BAT- TERIES. Operating Instructions Replacing Batteries 1. 3. 5. Figure 2 Remove the Lamp Head Cover (2) by loosening Bolts (24) located on two sides of the Lamp Head Cover (2). Remove the Reflector (19) by loosening the Screw (7). Turn the Battery Housing (27) down from the Lamp Head Cover by loosening the Screw (21). Remove the Battery Cover (4) and remove the old batteries. Replace with 6 fresh new AA Ni-CD batteries. Always use a complete set of batteries. Do not replace partially. Always use the exact same type and size battery that come with the Lamp Post Light. Replace the Battery Cover (4), turn the Lamp Head Cover (2) over and replace on top of Lamp Post Light. Tighten both Bolts (24). NOTE: Check the Switch (22) after replacing Batteries (5). Once mounted on secure platform, this Lamp Post Light operates automatically, or it may be turned on and off manually using Switch (22). Once it is turned on, It will operate automatically if you do not turn it back off. It will turn on at dusk and off sometime during the night, when the batteries have lost their charge. The Batteries will recharge during daylight hours and the Lamp Post Light will automatically turn on again at dusk. When first installed and used, the Lamp Post Light may not be as bright, or last as long as it should. It may take a couple of days for the Batteries (5) to fully charge. This is normal. Maintenance And Servicing Periodically, inspect general condition of Lamp Post Light. Check for loose screws, loose parts, and/or any other condition that may affect its safe operation. Periodically wipe down the Lamp Post Light with a clean rag slightly dampened with clear, fresh water.
