Introduction This guide explains how to perform the first connection between the X PAD software and robotic total station GeoMax Zoom 80 equipped with Long Range Bluetooth device. Before proceeding with the instructions, make sure that: The handle ZRT81 has been properly installed on the station Zoom80. X PAD is installed and running on the controller Getac PS236 is equipped with special cap Bluetooth Long Range. X PAD version is 2.4.000 or later X PAD Robotic module have to be active To check the version of X PAD start the program and click on the icon on the upper left corner. To check X PAD modules, press the button License and then the button Modules. Introduction - 7
Configure Zoom 80 Before to start the connection, you must perform the appropriate settings on Zoom80 Robotic Total Station. 1. Switch on Zoom 80 total station 2. Select option 5. Configuration 3. Select option 4. Interfaces 4. Select GeoCOM Mode item and press EDIT button: 8 - Configure Zoom 80
5. Set Use Interface item to Yes. 6. Set Port item to Port 2 (Handle) 7. Press DEVCE button. 8. Select item ZRT81 and press CONT button. If ZRT81 item is not available press SHIFT button on total station keyboard and then press button DEFLT: ZRT81 device should have to appear in the list and then press CONT button. Configure Zoom 80-9
9. Press CONT button to come back to main window. Instrument profile creation in X PAD and first use After you have properly configured the Zoom80 robotic total station you can proceed with the configuration of X PAD running on Getac PS236 controller. 1. Start X PAD from Getac PS236 controller 2. Select Select instrument item 3. Press New button to create a new instrument profile. 4. Assign a name to the profile. To Brand item select GeoMax and to Model item select Zoom 80 BTLR. 5. Press Next and to Communication item select Bluetooth. If you already have Bluetooth devices used by other profiles, open the Device list and scroll to the end, select the last item Find device. If there is no Bluetooth device, device management window will be open directly. Instrument profile creation in XPAD and first use - 11
6. Press row Click here to scan for a device and wait the scanning of the available bluetooth devices. 7. From the list of the founded devices select the one that corresponds to Zoom 80 total station and press End button. 12 - Instrument profile creation in XPAD and first use
8. Press Back button to come back to the profile configuration window; on Device item select Bluetooth device that corresponds to the Zoom 80 total station. 9. Press Next button and not define, for the moment, any target search area. Instrument profile creation in XPAD and first use - 13
10. In this phase it is possible to define the following parameters: Angles update frequency: X PAD is able to continuously request current angle values to total station and display them graphically in the various working windows; this parameter allows you to set how often to display the updated values. We recommend a value of 2 times per second. Auto-turn in stakeout: when this option is active X PAD will perform an automatic rotation and positioning on the direction of the point that have to be staked in the field.. Search after lost: in case of loss of prism, with this option enabled, X PAD perform an automatic search of the prism after 5 seconds after loss of the engagement. Remote control: this option specifies that you are running X PAD on the pole of the target and not from the station side. 14 - Instrument profile creation in XPAD and first use
11. Press End to complete the creation of the profile. 12. Select profile just created and press Current button in order to define the profile that have to be used by X PAD. 13. Press Back button to complete the procedure and start the connection. X PAD will connect to total station and then it will be possible to start to work. Successive uses The profile that has been created has been stored and can be recalled at any time without having to set again all parameters. After the first start, you can continue to use the last profile used in the previous session. Successive uses - 15
1. Start X PAD from Getac PS236 controller 2. If you are using the same instrumentation of the previous session select Last instrument item otherwise select the Select instrument item and proceed to the selection or creation of another profile. 16 - Successive uses
