5 of 8 6/2/2008 3:33 PM - Internet for 2 cent for 1 minute or 1 per hour - Towels to borrow 1 Euro - Soft drinks 1 Euro - Laundry service 9 Euro - Phone from 10 cents - Maps for free and maps for 1 Euro &r 3 Euro - trips and picnics ( from 10 ) to the Royal Castles of Potsdam, the country side, like Spreewald & Mecklenburg, until the Baltic Sea, 100 km north of Berlin OUR PHILOSOPHY This hostel is especially designed for single travellers, who like to meet other people on their trip. I personally would more prefer to meet interesting intellectuals and students of arts or philosophy, rather than a more ransom crowd, who haven't much else in mind than drinking beer and smoking dope all day. The latter is in any case strictly forbidden inside, and even in front of the door, since dope is not legal in Germany. People consuming drugs in our premises get kicked out immediately with no refund.. D A V I D ' S special interests: Anthropology, South-East Asia,India & Indonesia, Film-Making, Theatre & Film, and all sorts of adventures in Africa or Asia, and Gay man, to some extent. David speaks German, English, some French, Arabic and Indonesian Vegetarians who cook for us get discounts, especially when they join there food with David, who loves Vegetarian Food! Dan from Israel with his yummy vegetarian & kosher food is still in good memory. Special discounts available for bicycle repairers, you could maintain our always damagded bicycle armada. Extra cookies for bally dancers, guitar players, Japanese singers and magicans! We can`t wait to see you soon. David & Son & Friends Some guests Reviews: It's unique! It's better than at home! Less boring at least. Sarah, Basel, Switzerland

I ended up getting bit by some bugs -- I had bites all over my back, I told Adrian (a very nice man). He then told his boss David, who ask me to leave and he would get me a new place to stay for the last night in Berlin and he said he would give me a full refund. Well he only gave me a little bit of a refund and the place he found for me to stay was more expensive then Davids Hostel and therefore I couldnt afford it because I was on a budget. My daughter and I ended up staying awake all night in the train station which was freezing waiting for the ICE train back to Hamburg. I was lied to and misled and bitten by bedbugs. I will never stay at another Hostel again. Beware! stayed Oct. 7 and 8 then stayed at the train station on the 9th -- Thanks a lot David. Comment by Félicie, France August 2007 Great That was a great place to stay. Have no hesitation to make yourself at home, cooking, drinking, speaking, playing with all those crazy and various people from all over the world. I met amazing people there. Clean place, warm and comfortable! Comment by kostas lazaridis May 2006 friendly, better than home. Comment by John Ramirez November 2005 I was only there one night, but I had so much fun with David and Valentin that I never will forget it. They are sort of entertainers, and they should definitely join the show business! It is basically a living room with a kitchen, where everyone meets, and the bedrooms, which are sort of basic, but clean and quiet. Highly recommended. Comment by Alexis from Athens, Greece February 2005

7 of 8 6/2/2008 3:33 PM A small and nice little place, warm, clean and always has nice people. But it wasn't as gay as it was promised. Then David, the owner, came and said the gay guys were all going to John's hostel now. (John is David's son, I believe.) So I moved to John's and this was even more fun, in the gay boy's room. Both are great, with a lot of character. Comment by Karsten Meister, Aachen, Germany January 2005 There were at least four showers there. I stayed for a week and used all of them after a while. It felt very much like at home there, and that is what counts for me the most, after having been in so many places that were as inviting as a train station. I found it to be clean enough and the staff were friendly and helpful. I had a lot of fun there, and we went out with the staff every single evening. Comment by Johnas December 2004 This is a friendly place, with lots of characters and fun. It's clean and has a very easy-going atmosphere. It brings back the 70's fashion style. Comment by Thomas, Stockholm, Sweden October 2004 This was the most exciting place I ever had been to. And I was there for more than three weeks! It was so entertaining there. All the crazy people in Berlin are there, chatting all day and night long. I never got out of that place, because it was so much fun! It is indeed very cozy, because it's so small and always amusing. The more you stay, the more fun it gets. Okay, the breakfast wasn't that breath-taking, just toast and marmalade, and tea and coffee, but it was unlimited. Beloved long-time guests get more and more every day; free dinners from Victor or Adrian included. David even invited me for a Chinese dinner once. The showers can be used by up to three people at once; that was quite fun sometimes! And the mattresses were great to crash on, better than those damn bunk beds everywhere, which are really horrible. And the neighborhood is great, if you like Arabic-German kids and a multi-nation ambience. I recommend this place a lot and want to come back soon. I just love it. Comment by Amadeus October 2004 This was the best-ever place I've stayed at so far. It was an easy-going place, and I did meet many other people, mostly of them lonely artists. It was just great. Comment by Swiss Stefan September 2004 I stayed at this hostel for ten days. David gave me a very good price and the Greek employee, as well as the Filipino receptionist, was extra friendly. David was fun, but he always ate up the pasta I cooked. There is only one shower, but it is spacious and clean. The hostel is even wheelchair-friendly, and, what I found exciting, the bathroom is equipped for the handicapped, too. I met people from almost every damn corner of the world in here. I can recommend it but you'll be forbidden to bring your own beverages. That sucks! Otherwise, 5 stars +++++ Comment by Anonymous August 2004

8 of 8 6/2/2008 3:33 PM We booked by phone, and when we arrived they didn't have free beds. But it worked out fine for us. The hostel isn't clean, though. When you brush your teeth everyone sitting at the kitchen table can see you. I didn't like that. And there's only one shower. And prices aren't the same for everyone (which we found out later when we talked to others). I don't recommend it. Comment by Anonymous August 2004 I found this hostel unclean and uninviting. I wouldn't recommend it at all. I wasn't enjoying Berlin at all until I moved to another hostel. Comment by Barbara June 2004 We booked by phone three days before, but when we arrived in the evening the manager told us that he had already given our room away in the afternoon!!! So we had no place to stay in Berlin! It was already dark and other hostels were full. They didn't even let us come inside. Comment by Heather May 2004 The owners were very nice and welcoming. The mattresses are on the floor, but you can't go wrong for 9 euros. I would definitely go back. You can have as much toast and tea for breakfast as you want. It was a nice, friendly atmosphere where you can meet people. Not the safest or cleanest place, but it had a lot of character. :-) Comment by Anonymous April 2004 The beds are only mattresses on the floor, which was really uncomfortable and the pillow was only a tiny square cushion. Even though we booked accomodations for a single sex room, the room was coed. The water wasn't hot in the showers and at times wasn't even warm. Not in the most happening neighborhood but the people staying in the hostel were friendly. The management was hard to find when problems arose after 11 pm. More Comments...
