SANCTUARY RETREATS PRIVATE CAMPING VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN KENYA KENYA SAFARI TENTS Sanctuary Retreats Private Camping is the ultimate and most authentic form of safari. Private tented camps are set up in hand selected wildlife areas in Kenya to create an experience to suit guests individual tastes.

LUXURY, NATURALLY Adventure, enchantment and Luxury, naturally - all delivered with a quiet, understated charm and understanding of place is the guiding philosophy of Sanctuary Retreats and our private camping offering, Sanctuary Retreats Private Camping. Sanctuary Retreats Private Camping offers a uniquely flexible safari experience that uncovers the very heart of Kenya. Explore game-filled wildernesses and landscapes of breath-taking beauty without compromising on comfort, luxury or authenticity. A minimum of four guests are required. Our experienced camping team prepares an exclusive safari itinerary agreed individually with each group of guests. This is a completely authentic camping experience that pays homage to the romance and style of a bygone era. There are no fixed timescales and we can design any length of trip. USPS Flexible safari option in the most spectacular parks and reserves in Kenya Exclusive itinerary designed for each group of guests Wide variety of activities available from game drives and scenic flights to hot air ballooning, community interaction, horseback riding and camelback safaris Classic safari tents with luxurious furnishings, running water and electricity Excellent game viewing opportunities ACCOMMODATION AND FACILITIES Each extremely spacious tent is furnished with hand-woven rugs and traditional campaign furniture. Each tent also has a fully flushing ceramic toilet and running water in the basin. Powered bedside, overhead and bathroom lighting is available in guests tents. A personal tent attendant will be on hand to ensure that the bucket shower is mixed to the perfect temperature at whatever time of day or night guests wish to bathe; and that a hot water bottle is slipped beneath the duvet on chilly nights. On the veranda are two director s chairs and a table for guests to relax and enjoy a drink, catch up with a book or watch the animals grazing nearby. A laundry service is included free of charge to guests. A mobile spa facility is available upon request. The main tent offers a dining area and lounge with comfortable sofas as well as a small library where lazy afternoons may be spent. Electricity supply is a combination of silent packed generator and battery system. LOCATION AND GETTING THERE Sanctuary Retreats sets up exclusive tented camps in various wildlife areas in Kenya; including Masai Mara Game Reserve, Amboseli National Park, Samburu National Reserve and Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Please contact us for more information on how to get to the various Sanctuary Retreats Private Camping sites in Kenya. Please note that the luggage restriction for light aircrafts is 15kg / 33lbs per person in a soft-sided bag.

GAME VIEWING AND ACTIVITIES A professional safari guide will plan each day to suit the pace of individual guests. Key wildlife include: Depends on location but lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo are found in most areas. The following activities are included in your stay: Game drives: All game drives are conducted in custom-made safari vehicles. Depending on location, they may also include night game driving with filtered spotlights. Sundowners: In the evening, a game drive most often ends with a sundowner at a specially-chosen vantage point where you may relax and enjoy a deserved cocktail as the sun sinks over the horizon. Sanctuary Retreats experienced guides know all the best hidden spots. Bush meals: You may have decided with your guide to take a picnic breakfast or lunch with you but equally lovely in the evening is to enjoy a bush dinner. A private and secluded clearing is prepared for an elegant dinner in the middle of the African bush. As the sun swiftly sinks, the setting is illuminated by a magnificent log fire. After dinner retire to the warmth of the campfire where brandies and liqueurs are served. Local School Visit: More and more popular are the visits organised by our guides to a variety of local schools during the school term. These visits are free, but we would recommend a donation to the school of anything upward of $15 per person. ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES Hot air balloon safari: Your balloon is inflated against the first rays of sunrise and once aloft floats gently over the plains and the plethora of game. After around one hour the balloon lands and nearby breakfast is already being prepared. The smells of bacon, sausages and eggs drift on the breeze as you begin breakfast with platefuls of exotic Kenyan fruits and homemade pastries and, of course, glasses of bubbly to toast your flight. Spa Treatments: On request, we can offer guests various spa treatments from our mobile spa facilities. Horseback Safari: Our Private Camping team in Kenya are able to bring along horses to join you for the whole of your camping experience, or simply organise for you to go out for a morning riding experience. Prices vary according to location. Camelback Safaris: In some areas of Kenya, walks can be supported by camels when the terrain allows. Visit to a Traditional Village: In many of the regions where we pitch our camps, there is the opportunity to learn about the local culture. Find out about their traditions, the social structure of the homestead, the role of women in their society and many more aspects of their daily life. Interaction and discussion is encouraged, so whether the ladies are building a mud hut, the warriors are dancing or making fire with stones and sticks, guests are free to join in. The cost to enjoy such a privilege depends upon the area you are staying but is anything upward of $20 per person. A TYPICAL DAY ON SAFARI Summer Schedule: 05:30: Wake-up call (flexible) 06:00: Breakfast 06:30: Depart for morning game activity 12:00: Lunch 16:00: High tea 16:30: Depart for afternoon game activity 20:30: Dinner Winter Schedule: 06:00 Wake-up call (flexible) 06:30 Breakfast 07:00 Depart for morning game activity 3 hours 11:30 Lunch 15:30 High tea 16:00 Depart for afternoon game activity 20:00 Dinner

DINING Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, snacks during activities and dinners are all included in your stay. Meals are served in the dining tent. Breakfast is served before the morning game activity. During your morning game viewing activity, coffee, tea and a selection of scones and biscuits will be served out in the bush. Lunch will be enjoyed back at the camp or a picnic lunch can be taken along on game drives should guests wish to stay longer in the reserve. Afternoon tea is served before afternoon game activity and offers a selection of cakes, sweet and savoury treats, tea, and coffee and fresh fruit juices. As evening sets in, enjoy sundowner drinks and canapés in a secluded spot before returning to camp for pre-dinner drinks and a buffet dinner. Romantic private dinners can be arranged upon request. With prior notice, our camps are able to arrange halaal meals, however, please note our kitchens are not strictly halaal and our chefs are not trained in halaal food preparation. Unfortunately, we are unable to arrange kosher meals. Meals typically consist of the following: Breakfast: Continental and full English Breakfast Lunch: Buffet style with vegetarian options Dinner: Buffet style with vegetarian options CLIMATE The climate in Kenya is mainly characterised by warm days and cool evenings. December to March are usually the warmest months of the year, while June to August are the coolest. April and May often see intermittent rains, and from September to November the days are warm with short scattered rains falling in November. CLOTHING Clothing should be comfortable and casual and colours should blend in with nature as much as possible. Greens, browns and khaki coloured clothing are advisable for safaris. We suggest long sleeves and long trousers and for morning and evenings due to mosquitoes; and a fleece, sweater or warm jacket for morning and evening game drives. Layering is key. Jackets may be required in early mornings and evenings, especially during the cooler months of June, July and August. Sturdy and comfortable shoes are essential. A complimentary overnight laundry service is offered in the camp. Accessories: Sunscreen, sunglasses and hats are essential. Binoculars and good cameras are an absolute must. The camp provides a torch as well as complimentary mosquito repellent and toiletries. HONEYMOONS AND SPECIAL OCCASIONS Guests celebrating their honeymoon will receive special surprises during their stay. Our honeymoon services include: Private bush picnic with blanket and pillows Mid-morning bush stop with freshly-made pancakes served with various condiments Romantic turndown with fairy lights FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN We welcome children of all ages at Sanctuary Retreats Private Camping.
