Using SMART Boards and Wordle There has been a flurry of posts in the edublogosphere about Wordle, a very useful tool that allows you to create word clouds from text. It s very simple to use: you just copy text in any language, paste it into Wordle and it will sift through it and create clouds with the most commonly occurring words in the text. You can then edit the shape, the colours and the font in the cloud and even remove words you don t like by right-clicking on them. http://www.boxoftricks.net/?p=103 3 This is the site for Wordle you just need to go there and try it out. It is very neat and could have some interesting applications in all subjects. http://www.wordle.net/ Spellingcity.com is a free spelling tool that can help you make teaching spelling more exciting. With online spelling games, spelling reviews, and spelling quizzes, your students can memorize those weekly spelling words while having fun, and you will have a new tool in your box for teaching spelling. The SMART Notebook Community Library was developed to support the use of interactive white boards in the classroom. Many schools serving students who are deaf or hard of hearing have found this technology to positively impact their instruction and student learning. TEXTANIM.com- just type your text, pick the font, size, pick your desired pattern (and there are several choices), etc., click generate and voila your wonderful animated text will appear for you to simply copy and paste it into your Notebook lesson. 2. Cooltext.com- Type your text, pick the image you want, choose the font, size, etc, and then click on render logo to see your creation. Copy and paste it into your SMART Notebook page and dazzle your students!! 3. FLAMINGTEXT.com- this site has a gallery list to the right of the page. Scroll down to see the animated options. Again you type in your text, make your choices for font, size, etc. and then click create logo to have the logo generated and ready for you to copy and paste into your SMART Notebook lesson for all of those oooooooo s and ahhhhhhh s!!!
