Appealing Academic Suspension Packet Instructions You will need to submit this appeal if one or more of the following applies to you: 1. You are on Academic Suspension from Saint Paul College and: Have served the mandatory two major terms of your suspension and believe that you are able to return to Saint Paul College and be successful. OR Have documented extenuating circumstance that prevented you from achieving satisfactory academic progress during your probationary period. 2. You have been placed on academic suspension at another MnSCU institution and would like to be admitted to Saint Paul College. OR You did not meet Saint Paul College's satisfactory academic progress standards at a non-mnscu College or University To appeal your academic suspension, please complete the following steps and submit all materials to the Office of Enrollment Services: 1. Resolve all your financial obligations at other institutions (students appeals with unpaid balances will not be reviewed) 2. Complete the three (3) forms provided in this packet. Failure to complete the packet in its entirety will result in your appeal being denied: a. The Satisfactory Academic Progress Suspension Appeal Form b. The Suspension Appeal Reinstatement Agreement c. Academic Performance Self Assessment 3. Compose a Letter of Appeal addressed to the Dean of Student Engagement, Persistence & Success illustrating why your suspension appeal should be granted. Failure to include a letter with your appeal packet will result in your appeal being denied. Include the following information in your Letter of Appeal: a. What led to your deficient grades, and thus your suspension. b. How have your life circumstances changed to now support your efforts to achieve satisfactory academic progress. c. What will you do differently to ensure academic success if your appeal is granted 4. Provide any documentation that supports the information provided in your written appeal (i.e. medical notes, social service letters, etc.). Please submit photocopies of documents, you will not get this material back. 5. Request official copies of all non-mnscu transcripts. The College can access all MnSCU (www.mnscu.edu) transcripts electronically( i.e. Century, MCTC, Inver Hills). DO NOT SUBMIT COPIES of transcripts, they must be OFFICIAL. Failure to disclose enrollment at another institution may result in indefinite suspension. 6. Submit ALL materials to the Office of Enrollment Services.
