2 Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress in order to continue to be enrolled as a student at MWCC and/or receive Federal Financial Aid. Satisfactory Academic Progress involves choices that move students toward the completion of their degree or certificate. - Minimum GPA requirements - Completing courses (with a passing grade) - Taking courses that will lead to a degree or certificate

3 G.P.A Requirement: G.P.A.: Students must maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.0 or above. This is a C or better average of ALL classes taken.

4 PACE 67%: 67 % COMPLETION RATE: Students must complete (earn) 67% of the courses they attempt. Grades of W, F and I are credits attempted, but not earned Important Note: An I turns into an F in 30 days

5 TIMEFRAME 150%: 150% TIMEFRAME: Students must complete their academic program within 150% of the normal time (# of credits) expected. Example: If your degree requires 60 college-level credits, you have 90 credits to complete your degree. After that, you have exceeded the timeframe.

6 NEW Federal Aid Regulations Financial Aid can only pay for a passed course one more time May repeat failed or withdrawn courses, once a letter grade is received, only one repeat is permitted even if it is a W Pell Grants are available for 12 full time semesters over your entire lifetime. This total includes all past semesters at all previous colleges Subsidized Student Loan: Student will not be eligible for subsidized federal student loans once 150% of the program of studies is reached.

7 Step One: APPEAL PROCESS: Attend Workshop & Complete Appeal Step Two: Academic/Financial Aid Review & Decision A decision will be made within 10 business days, you will receive a decision letter via your school address 10-BUSINESS DAY WAIT PERIOD for Each Department Step Three: Complete Reinstatement Plan if Approved Students must fill out a reinstatement plan for each semester they are below the 3 criteria (GPA, pace, timeframe). Financial Aid will not be awarded until this is done.

8 APPEAL REASONS: For financial aid to be reinstated, there must be mitigating circumstances You need to provide documentation to support your appeal. DOCTOR S NOTE DISABILITY Make sure name and ID are on your documentation

9 If your appeal is approved Meet with an advisor to set up your reinstatement plan The reinstatement plan outlines what you are required to do academically for the upcoming semester In order to maintain financial aid eligibility you are required to FOLLOW ALL ELEMENTS OF YOUR REINSTATEMENT PLAN Double check your schedule to ensure it lines up with your academic plan, or register for classes if you have not yet done so

10 If your appeal is denied OPTIONS: Submit new information/ documentation for both Academic and Financial Aid Suspension Financial Aid Suspension: Pay for and complete courses for a semester. If you are back in compliance with the SAP standards (GPA above 2.0 and completion rate above 67%), then you will regain financial aid eligibility automatically. If you are still in non-compliance, you could re-appeal after a successful semester, OR you can continue to pay out of pocket to complete your Degree/Certificate. Academic Suspension: Students can appeal the review board s decision. Students will then be required to meet with Melissa Fama, Vice President of Academic Affairs.
