8. This is not a toy. Never allow children to play in or with the Safe. Operation Remove the round plastic keyhole cover on the front of the Safe. (See Figure 1) Use a key to unlock the Safe. The keys should be stored in a secure place, away from the location of the Safe. Do not store the keys in the Safe, since they may be needed to provide access to the Safe if the batteries fail. Replace the cover firmly back onto the door of the Safe. Scanner Window Red/green LEDs 0 Button 1 Button 2 Button 3 Button Place shelves on braces inside the Safe, and place felt in the bottom of the Safe. Keyhole Cover Remove the cover of the Battery Figure 1 Compartment just inside the Safe door and, observing polarity, install four 5V AA-size Batteries. Replace cover. (See Figure 2) Open Door Code The open door code is a series of 11 digits that can be typed on the Buttons to open the Safe. The factory default code is 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2, this code should be changed immediately. The new code cannot begin with a 0. That aside, any combination with a total of 11 digits using 0, 1, 2, and 3 can be entered. Write the new 11 digit code down and keep it in a secure location. To set a new Open Door Code, hold the Initialize Button, located on the inside of the Safe door near the battery compartment, down for 6 seconds. (See Figure 2) The Safe will beep twice to indicate that the Buttons are ready for input. Input the new 11 digit code once without pausing. The Safe will beep and the green LEDs will flash to show acceptance of the new Open Door Code. The Safe door will now open after the new Open Door Code is entered and the handle is turned. Battery Compartment (shown without cover) Initialize Button Figure 2 Fingerprints Registering Fingerprints When the Safe door is open, press the small red Initialize Button located on the inside of the Safe door near the battery compartment. The LEDs will flash green and the Safe will beep. The Scanner Window will flash for 5 seconds. While the Scanner Window is flashing, put the chosen finger on the Scanner Window. The Scanner Window will then record the fingerprint, this may take several seconds. There will be a long beep indicating that the fingerprint has been stored. Remove the finger from the Scanner Window. After 1 second, the Scanner Window will flash red again, place the same finger on the Scanner Window and hold in place until the Safe beeps twice. The fingerprint has been stored. Repeat this process to record other digits for the same person or for any others who may require access to the Safe (up to 30 fingerprints). To Open the Safe using a Fingerprint: Push the 0 button. The Safe will beep, the green LEDs will flash, and the Scanning Window will activate and flash red. Place a finger that has been scanned on the Scanner Window and wait while the digit is read. SKU 96846 For technical questions, please call 1-800-444-335 Page 4

If the fingerprint has been saved correctly, the green LED will light up and the Safe will open automatically. To Close the Safe Door: Close the door firmly, turn the handle, and the Safe will lock automatically. Note: Always keep hands and any clothing items clear of Safe door when closing. Resetting the Safe 6. Resetting the Safe will erase all stored fingerprints and set the open door code back to the factory default. With the Safe door open, remove one battery to cut power. Press the 0 Button. Press the red Initialize Button located on the inside of the Safe door near the battery compartment, and hold while re-inserting the battery. The Safe will beep. After about 3 seconds, there will be a long beep tone and the green LED will flash to indicate that the Safe has been fully reset. The open door code has been set back to the default setting of 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2- 3-1- Battery Back-up Store the Battery Back-up in a safe, dry location, out of the reach of children. If the batteries inside the Safe should fail, install four 5V AA Batteries in the Battery Back-up, according to the correct positive and negative polarity alignment. Plug the Battery Back-up into the connection underneath the edge of the keypad, just above the oval plate. This will supply enough power to open the Safe using the Scanner Window or the Open Door Code. After Safe is open, replace the four 5V AA Batteries in the Safe. Remove the batteries from the Battery Back-up and return the Battery Back-up to it s safe, dry storage location. NOTE: Dispose of any used batteries in a manner consistent with the handling of such items according to applicable State, local and Federal ordinances and laws. Mounting Instructions Caution! Before drilling or driving nails, make sure there are no wires, cables or pipes in the path. Choose a location for the Safe that is easily accessible, yet hidden from casual view. Select a position for the Safe that allows it to be bolted to the wall. To attach the Safe to a wood surface, measure the distance between the mounting holes to be used and hammer a nail (not included) to mark the hole placement. Drill an 1/8 diameter pilot hole into each mounting hole location. Place the Safe over the mounting holes and secure the Safe using four 1/4 diameter selftapping screws (not included). Make sure that each fastener has a nut threaded flush with top of the Fastener to protect the thread during driving it into the wood. To use the concrete fasteners, drill a small pilot hole through the template to mark the hole placement. Next drill four holes in the correct location, using a carbide tip bit. Drill the holes the same diameter as the fasteners and 2 deep. Hammer the fastener in the hole with the flat side going into the hole first. Use a wood block between the bolt and the hammer to protect the threads. Place the Safe over the bolts (with the nut removed from the bolts) and tighten a nut onto each bolt. As you tighten the nuts onto the bolts, the fasteners will expand inside the cement, securing the Safe in place. INSPECTION, MAINTENANCE, AND CLEANING Before each use, inspect the general condition of the Safe. Check for loose screws, misalignment or binding of moving parts, cracked or broken parts, damaged electrical wiring, and any other condition that may affect its safe operation. Have any problem corrected before further use. Do not use damaged equipment. Keep the Scanner Window clean to ensure accurate fingerprint reading and scanning. Use a damp cloth and mild non-abrasive detergent to clean it regularly. Clean the surfaces of the Safe with a damp cloth and mild detergent to remove dust. Lubricate the inside hinges of the Safe with household lightweight lubricating oil. SKU 96846 For technical questions, please call 1-800-444-335 Page 6
