Abstract. This document provides instructions for preparing a paper to be included in the Proceedings of the XX AIDAA Congress. The first page is reserved for the title of the paper, the authors, affiliation, key words and the abstract. The introduction must begin at the top of the second page. The paper may be written using a software of choice of the authors, but it must be uploaded to the conference web site only in the Portable Document Format (PDF). All instructions as well as L A TEX and MS-Word templates can be found at the conference web site. 1
1 INTRODUCTION The conference proceedings will be published in a USB key, which will be made available to the attendees together with the Book of Abstracts at the time of their on-site registration. Authors should submit their paper electronically through the conference web site www.aidaa2009.org before May 15 th, 2009. L A TEX and MS-Word templates are available at that same address for the convenience of the authors. The paper file has to be translated to the Portable Document Format (PDF) before submission, and the file name should conform to the following example: Surname1Surname2Surname3 paper.pdf. Papers received later than the above-mentioned deadline will not be included in the proceedings. 2 GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS The paper must be written within a printing box of 16 cm 24 cm, centered in the page. The paper including figures, tables and references must have a minimum length of 4 pages and must not exceed 20 pages. 3 TITLE, AUTHORS, AFFILIATION, KEYWORDS The first page must contain the Title, Author(s), Affiliation(s), Keywords and the Abstract. The second page must begin with the Introduction. The first line of the title is located 3 cm from the top of the printing box. 3.1 Title The title should be written centered, in 14 pt, boldface Roman, all capital letters. It should be single spaced if the title is more than one line long. 3.2 Author The name of each author should include first name, middle initial and surname. It should be written centered, in 12 pt boldface Roman, 12 pt below the title. 3.3 Affiliation Affiliations should be written centered, in 11 pt Roman, 12 pt below the list of authors. A 12 pt space should separate two different affiliations. 3.4 Keywords Please, write no more than six key words, which will be used to compile the USB key index. They should be written left aligned, in 12 pt Roman, and the line must begin with the words Key words: boldfaced. A 15mm space should separate the key words from the affiliations. 3.5 Abstract Use 12 pt Italic Roman for the abstract. The word Abstract must be set in boldface, not italicized, at the beginning of the first line. The abstract text should be justified and separated 12 pt from the key words, as shown in the first page of these instructions. The abstract should neither be too short nor exceed the first page. The abstract should not contain any references to bibliographical entries or to equations appearing in the body of the paper. 2
4 HEADINGS 4.1 Main headings The main headings should be written left aligned, in 12 pt, boldface and using all capital Roman letters. There should be a 12 pt space before and 6 pt after the main headings. 4.2 Secondary headings Secondary headings should be written left aligned, 12 pt, boldface Roman, with an initial capital for the first word only. There should be a 12 pt space before and 6 pt after the secondary headings. 5 EDITORIAL HEADING The first page will include the Editorial Heading, as shown in the first page of these instructions. In addition, successive pages will include the name of the authors. The Editorial Heading must be included in the paper by the authors (it is automatically included if using the provided L A TEX class file aidaa2009.cls). 6 TEXT The body of the paper should be written single-spaced, justified, using 12 pt (Times New) Roman in one column. The first line of each paragraph must be indented 5 mm. There is no inter-paragraph spacing. 7 PAGE NUMBERS Write the page number centered at the bottom of each page, with 12 pt Roman. Note: page numbers are not included in the printing box. 8 FIGURES All figures should be numbered consecutively and captioned. The caption title should be written centered, in 10 pt Roman, with upper and lower case letters. A 6 pt space should separate the figure from the caption, and a 12 pt space should separate the upper part of the figure and the bottom of the caption from the surrounding text. Figures should be included within the text rather than added at the end of the paper. When referencing a figure, use the form Fig. 1. 9 EQUATIONS A displayed equation is numbered flushright, using Arabic numbers in parentheses. It should be centered, leaving a 6 pt space above and below to separate it from the surrounding text. The following example is a single line equation: When you reference an equation, use the form Eq. (1). 10 TABLES f(x) = e λ x sin x, λ > 0. (1) All tables should be numbered consecutively and captioned, the caption should be 10 pt Roman, using upper and lower case letters. 3

A 6 pt space should separate the table from the caption, and a 12 pt space should separate the table from the surrounding text. 11 FORMAT OF REFERENCES References should be grouped together at the end of the paper in numerical order as shown in these instructions, where Ref. [1] exemplifies the case of a textbook, Ref. [2] the case of a scientific paper, and Ref. [3] the case of a conference paper. 12 CONCLUSIONS Papers should be submitted electronically via the web site of the conference, www.aidaa2009.org. The paper should be written strictly following these instructions, possibly using the L A TEX and MS-Word templates provided at the conference web site. 4
