Series 7 The Series 7 designed by Arne Jacobsen is by far the most sold chair in the history of Fritz Hansen and perhaps also in furniture history. The pressure moulded veneer chair is a further development of the classic Ant chair. The four-legged stackable chair represents the culmination of the lamination technique. The visionary Arne Jacobsen exploited the possibilities of lamination to perfection resulting in the iconic shape of the chair. Series 7 represents the chair in the Fritz Hansen collection with the widest range of applications.
ARNE JACOBSEN 1902-1971 The cooperation between Arne Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen dates back to 1934. But it was in 19 the break-through came with the Ant. It was succeeded by the Series 7 in 1955. Description Series of laminated veneer chairs designed by Arne Jacobsen, manufactured by Fritz Hansen. The shell is in pressure molded veneer. The inner veneer is always beech and the outer veneer is available in 9 different veneers: Maple, Beech, Ash, Elm, Oak, Oregon Pine, Cherry, Walnut or Dark-stained Oak. The children s chair (3177) is only available in Beech or Walnut. It is also available in 2 finishes; coloured ash (lazur) or lacquered in 9 different colours: White, Light Grey, Dark Grey, Black, Yellow, Orange, Red, Petrol Blue or Sage Green. The children s chair (3177) is only available in coloured ash. The base for 3107, 3207, 3177, 3187 and 3197 is 14 mm chromed steel tubes with 4 legs and leg ferrules of black synthetic material. The swivel base for 3117 and 3217 is 14 mm chromed steel tubes and 5 hard-wheel castors with aluminium caps (soft wheels also available). All models (except for 3177) are also available with front or full upholstery in fabric or leather. UPHOLSTERY The upholstery is available in a selection of fabrics and leathers. Fabrics: Hallingdal, Divina, Divina MD, Divina melange, Tonus, Milani, Remix, and Comfort. Leathers: Basic, Soft, Classic, Rustic, Natural, White, Optical white, Elegance and Welted leather. Environment & Tests Un-upholstered chairs are coated with polyurethane lacquer, which prevents the emission of formaldehyde. For environmental reasons all parts of the Series 7 can be dismantled. The Series 7 is tested according to EN 1728, EN 13761 and BS 4875 for strength and durability and EN 1022, ISO 7174-1 and BS 7945 for stability. WARRANTY Standard goods have warranty for five years against manufacturing defects (i.e. materials and design). The warranty does not cover leather and other fabrics ordered as customers own or special material. Normal wear and tear and damage of covers are not covered by the warranty. Fritz Hansen offer up to 10 years limited warranty if the products are registered online at fritzhansen.com/my-republic. The warranty for wicker, rugs and lamps is 2 years.
