Create an Account 1. Navigate to the ADA Careers site. 2. In the Login box click the Register Now link. 3. Enter a unique User Name, Password and Confirm Password. 4. Click the Register button. Page 3
5. In the My Career Tools section click on the My Profile link. 6. Select your Preferred Method of Contact from the drop down menu. 7. Enter your First and Last Name 8. Enter your Address. 9. Enter your Email 10. Enter your Phone Number. 11. Click the Save button. Page 4
Search for a Job 1. From the ADA Careers site click on the Job Search link at the top of the page. 2. Enter the specifications in the Advanced Job Search box. 3. Click the Search button. With the returned results you can: Sort by click the titles of the columns. Page 5
Select multiple jobs to save or apply to by checking within the boxes next to the jobs. If there are more than 8 jobs returned from the search, applicant can navigate using the Next and Last links. Page 6
Apply for a Job 1. Navigate to the ADA Careers site and navigate to a job opening that you would like to apply to. 2. Click on the Posting Title. 3. Click on the Apply Now link. 4. Select your Resume Option. 5. Click the Continue button. If you try to view the file you submitted, and you are using Google Chrome, click on the and select Downloads or click Ctrl + J. Double click on the file to open it. If you are using Firefox, you will need to allow pop- ups from the website in order to view your file. 6. Enter Your Name Prefix, First, Middle and Last Name. 7. Enter Your Home Address. 8. Enter Your Primary email type and your email Address. 9. Enter Your Primary Phone Number type and Phone Number. 10. Click on Save. 11. Answer the pre- screening questions under Pre- Application Questionnaire and agree to the Terms and Agreements. 12. Click Continue. 13. Click Continue to continue the application process. 14. Enter your Preferences. 15. Enter Highest Education Level. Page 8
16. Enter any Degrees, Language Skills, Licenses and Certificates or Memberships that are pertinent to the position. 17. Answer the Application Questionnaire. 18. Click the Submit button. 19. Answer the Self Declaration Questions or decline to Self Declare. 20. Read the Terms and Agreement and select that you agree, if you agree. 21. Click the Submit button. Page 9
Entering References 1. Navigate to the ADA Careers site and sign in. 2. In the Notifications, section click on the link Please add you references. 3. Click the Add Reference link. 4. Enter the appropriate information. 5. Select Save & Return or Save & Add More button if you need to add further references or click Save & Return. Page 10
Adding Attachments (Letters of Intent, Reference Documents, etc.) 1. Navigate to the ADA Careers site and click on the My Career Tools link. 2. Under the Cover Letters and Attachments sections click on the Add Attachment link. 3. Using the drop down menu, select the Attachment Type. 4. In the Attachment Purpose field, type in the description. 5. 6. Click the Add Attachment link. 7. Click Browse and select your attachment. 8. Click the Upload button. 9. Click the Save & Return or Save & Add More buttons. Page 11
Create a Job Search Agent 1. Navigate to the ADA Careers site and click on the Job Search link at the top of the page. 2. Enter the specifications in the Advanced Job Search box. 3. Click the Save Search button. 4. Type an identifier in the Name your search field. 5. Check the Use As Job Agent box. 6. Enter an email address to which you would like notification to be sent in the Send Job Agent notification to field. 7. Click the Save Search button. Page 12
Accept a Job Offer 1. Navigate to the ADA Careers site and sign in. 2. At the top of the page click the My Career Tools link. 3. Under Job Offers, click the link to view the Job Offer. 4. Under Job Offer Documents, click the link to view. 5. Check the box next to the acknowledgement statement. 6. Click the Accept button. Page 13
Troubleshooting Our system supports Internet Explorer 8.0 & above and Firefox 3.6 & above. Google Chrome, Safari and Opera are additional browsers that can be used however, you may find that you cannot open files provided to you by the ADA or files that you have uploaded into the MyCareers tool. If you are unable to view any files that you upload or receive from the ADA please switch to one of the supported browsers or use the guide below to troubleshoot your issues. File Not Found Message Internet Explorer 8.0 and Above Due to certain browser settings in Internet Explorer 8 & 9, you may receive the message below when you try to open a file you ve submitted to the ADA or a file being sent to you by the ADA. You can modify your browser settings to be able to view these documents. 1. From the File menu select Internet Options or choose Tools and then Internet Options in the right hand corner of your browser. 2. From the Internet Options menu, select the Security tab. Page 14
3. Click on the Trusted Sites icon. 4. Click the Sites button. 5. Enter *.ada.org in the Add this website to the zone: field. 6. Click Add. 7. This will add *.ada.org to the Websites field. 8. Click Close. Page 15
9. From the Internet Options menu click Custom Level to access Security Settings. 10. From the Security Settings Trusted Sites Zone Menu scroll down until you reach the Downloads section. Page 16
11. Change the setting for Automatic prompting for file downloads to Enable. 12. Click OK. 13. From the Internet Options menu, click OK. 14. Close your browser by clicking on the in the upper right hand corner. 15. Re- open your browser, access the ADA Careers homepage and select the file you would like to review. Unable to View File Google Chrome When you click on a document you may find that the browser window opens to launch a file but you cannot immediately view that file. If you encounter this issue use the instructions below to open the file. 1. Click on the to expand the window. 2. In the bottom left hand corner, click the button that contains the file name you are trying to open. 3. This should launch the document you selected. Page 17
Unable to View File Opera When you click on a document you may find that the browser window opens to launch a file but you cannot immediately view that file. If you encounter this issue use the instructions below to open the file. 1. In the bottom right hand corner, click the message 2. This should launch the file you selected. Page 18
