The 4 Year Non Degree Education for High School Graduates leading to Unlimited Licenses Deck / Engine Departments annual recruitment capacity is presented below: TUDEV ( Turkish Maritime Education Foundation) Maritime Center carrying out joint BTEC /HND Programs with UK based Maritime Colleges, and EKOL are the two main private, non-degree MET Institutions in Turkey. Quality Standards System of MET in Turkey White List of IMO since 1995 European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) assessment since 2006 Correspondance dated May 2010 between EU / Directorate General Mobility and Transport AND Undersecretariat of Maritime Affairs of Turkey - Turkey has been found to comply with the requirements of the STCW Convention - the EU recognition of the Turkish MET and Certification System is consequently extended in accordance with the provisions of Directive 106/2008/EC. 23/43

-The 2010 BIMCO/ISF Update - global supply/demand balance scenarios Cold scenario a shortage of 2% in 2015, and a surplus of 2% in 2020 for officers. Central or Benchmark scenario a shortage of 5% in 2015, and 1% in 2020. Hot scenario a shortage of 11% in 2015, and 9% in 2020 for officers. 26/43

A Unique MET Model in the World Piri Reis Maritime University of Istanbul / Turkey PIRI REIS MARITIME UNIVERSITY Established in 2008 Support & Sponsorship of all Turkish Maritime Sector (7500 maritime related companies) Namely Turkish Chamber of Shipping through Turkish Maritime Education Foundation,TUDEV TUDEV Maritime Training Center has been training Officers since 1996, recently been given the status of an MET University under the Higher Education Council (YOK) of Turkey. 27/43

Who is Piri Reis? very famous Ottoman-Turkish Admiral and Cartographer who lived in the XVIth Century, best known for his Map of the World and the Book of Navigation (Kitab-ı Bahriye) also enholding techniques of navigation, and navigation related information on Astronomy. Finance Piri Reis Maritime University is financed by 50% of the Annual Budget of Chamber of Shipping in 2010, and planned on three different campuses of a total of 136 acres in Tuzla, Istanbul, at Marmara Sea Coast. 28/43

Post Graduate School with Nautical/Marine Engineering/Naval Architecture Programs will commence in Fall of 2011 leading to M Eng, and PhD Postgraduate Research Work. Continuing Studies are carried out serving to Graduates of 9 other MET related Turkish Universities in upgrading existing licenses. 36/43

The new Internationally accredited Green Campus of Piri Reis Maritime University is planned to serve further new Departments, as indicated below, in Phase 2 (2012) of the Strategic Plan.
