FYHA Fishers Falcons Manual 2014/15 Season

Objective The objective of the FYHA Fishers Falcons All-Star and Select program is to provide FYHA house recreational players the opportunity to develop their skills to compete at a higher level of play. To participate in the FYHA all-star program, a player must be registered with the FYHA house hockey organization. Name of the FYHA All-Star and Select Teams Fishers Falcons Age Divisions SQUIRT, PEEWEE, & BANTAM Coaches Prior to tryouts a minimum of one head coach per team will be selected by the Coach-in-Chief with the approval of the FYHA Executive Board. No parent/assistant coaches will be selected prior to tryouts, however a non-parent assistant may be selected by the head coach with the approval of the Coach-in-Chief. The head coach will receive a stipend of up to the equivalent of a players annual assessment. Tryout Structure FYHA will determine dates, times and cost of all tryouts. Falcons tryouts will be conducted after May 1 for the following season. All information pertaining to the Falcons tryouts will be posted on the FYHA web site and distributed via email A three person evaluating committee will be used at each level. Evaluators will attend all 3 tryouts and will not be familiar with the players, but will have experience with coaching and evaluating players. As a group, the evaluators will rank the players. The top 10 players will automatically be placed on the Falcons All Star team. The list of the next 10 players will then be presented to the head coach for them to approve. Any player selection outside the designated total number of players determined for the team will have to be approved by the Coach in Chief. For example, if the team is to consist of 15 skaters and a coach prefers player #17 on the list over someone in the top 15 selected by the evaluators, they would have to justify this pick to the Coach in Chief.

Season Structure The following are the maximum number of players for each level of play. Coaches may select up to the maximum number. Squirt All-Star: 14 skaters and 2 goalies Pee Wee All-Star: 15 skaters and 2 goalies Bantam All-Star: 16 skaters and 2 goalies Squirt Select: 13 skaters and 2 goalies Pee Wee Select: 15 skaters and 2 goalie Bantam Select: TBD All-Star teams for each level will be registered with the Buckeye Travel League. All-Star practice will commence no earlier than the 3rd week of August. All practices prior to this will be considered voluntary. Games, other than those required for the Buckeye League seeding tournament, will begin after October 1. All Falcons games must be played prior to March 31. All-Star and Select teams may participate in tournament play during the season provided it does not interfere with any house team commitment. The All-Star team budget is based on 24 league games, 8 non league games and 2 tournaments in addition to the Buckeye League Seeding and end of year tournament. The Select team budget is based on 12-16 games and 1-2 tournaments. All Select games will be played within a reasonable drive of the Forum at Fishers.
