This may be helpful if a message lamp is stuck on, and you can t extinguish it by calling voice mail. 4 If you set the CALL ME RETURN DEFAULT to Y, then go to screen 2.1.9.1.18 and enter the pilot number of the voice mail hunt group in the CALLME RETURN DEFAULT (STATION OR MDN) field. 2
TERMINATIONS: Terminate one analog station to a single RJ-14 jack. On some older systems, you may need to terminate two analog stations per jack. This is determined by the type of Intel/Dialogic card installed in the voicemail system. If your system has voice card(s) that have four connections per card (similar to the diagram shown at left), then terminate one analog station per RJ-14 jack. If your system has voice card(s) that have two connections per card (similar to the diagram shown at left), then terminate two analog stations per RJ-14 jack. 3
DEVICE INTERFACE CONNECTIONS: Hitachi VMS interface This interface is typically pre-loaded by Innovation before the system ships. Message waiting commands are sent by the voicemail to the Hitachi HCX. PMS messages sent to the Hitachi HCX are passed to the voicemail through this serial connection. A straight through, DB25M to DB25F cable may be used to connect the Hitachi HCX s VMS IOC port to the voicemail s serial port. Hitachi VMS/PMS interface This interface may be used if the Hitachi HCX can only pass V01 check-in messages to the voicemail, but you require that the voicemail be updated with guest name information. This interface will require two COM ports on the voicemail. The first COM port is connected to the Hitachi HCX s VMS IOC port in the same fashion as the previously described interface. The second COM port is passively connected to the serial connection that exists between the Property Management System and the Hitachi HCX s PMS IOC port. This passive connection listens to the PMS s transmit pin for messages sent to the Hitachi HCX. A custom cable between this COM port and where it passively connects is required (not provided by Innovation) for successful monitoring of these messages. 4
After connecting the voicemail COM port to the Hitachi HCX s VMS port, verify that the two devices are communicating by viewing the interface at the voicemail system. Successful communication between the two devices will be similar to the example shown below: The voicemail messages transmitted to the Hitachi HCX are displayed in green. The Hitachi HCX messages transmitted to the voicemail are displayed in red. If the HCX never responds to the voicemails [ENQ], check the cable between the two devices. The voicemail will continue to transmit the [ENQ] message, until the Hitachi HCX responds with an [ACK]. 5
TESTING: Testing disconnect supervision When a caller is connected to voicemail and hangs up, the HCX will provide a momentary open after approximately 4 seconds. This is the voicemail systems indication to disconnect. Test this by placing a call from any station to the voicemail system. After voicemail answers, hang up. The system s Monitor portion of the screen will show the message loop current drop detected, and the line will return to the waiting for call state. Call each of the remaining voicemail stations, (hanging up after each port answers) and watch to see if the message loop current drop detected is displayed. This test should be performed station to station and trunk to station. For a trunk to station test, call the hotel s main number, and have the attendant transfer you to voicemail. When voicemail answers, hang-up and watch for the loop current drop detected message to be displayed. If disconnect supervision does not work, make sure that the BCL feature LINE DICTATION is set to Y for the voicemail stations. Testing direct calls (From any station) At the system, right click the first voicemail port (anywhere in the rectangle that contains the waiting for call statement) and click on Trace Call Integration. A checkmark will appear to it s left. Now place a call from a station to this voicemail port. The information will show what station number is calling. Testing call coverage Cover one guest extension to the voicemail pilot number. Call Coverage can be programmed from the HCX s CMAT terminal (screen 2.1.9.4.12), or from the station itself by dialing the appropriate internal / external coverage feature access codes (screen 2.1.3.3 displays these codes). 6
From a staff extension, call the guest extension, allowing it to cover to voicemail. The call integration information will display only the called party. Perform this forwarding test via a trunk as well. Testing message lamps Test a message lamp by going to System > Tenants > Tenant 1 > Mailboxes. Double click the Set MWI(s) icon. Enter a valid extension number and test turning the message lamp on and off. The following information will be displayed on the device interface display window (example below is of turning a message lamp on for extension 7101.) MW on message An off message will contain a 0 before the extension number. 7
Testing PMS messages using the Hitachi VMS interface Click the Do button, and choose Interface: Hitachi VMS to monitor the messages. Have a test check in message sent from the PMS. The message should appear on the interface. The voicemail system will respond with an acknowledgment [ACK] V04 Check-in message Check-out message will start with V02 followed by the station number. A change room message will start with V30 followed by the station change information. Testing PMS messages using the Hitachi VMS/PMS interface Click the Do button, and choose Interface: Hitachi VMS/PMS to monitor the messages. Have a test check in message sent from the PMS. The message should appear on the interface. Since this is a passive interface, only red messages will be displayed. CHK1 Check-in message All PMS messages that are transmitted to the Hitachi s PMS IOC port will be displayed on this screen. END OF DOCUMENT 8
