Urgent Care Fellowship University Hospitals Medical Practices, Inc. This is a 12 month fellowship, beginning August 1 of each year carrying a PGY4 stipend and benefits provided by UHMP, Inc (University Hospitals Medical Practices, Inc). The fellowship is a collaboration between UHMP, the Department of Family Medicine (University Hospitals Case Medical Center Department of Family Medicine, Cleveland, OH), and the Urgent Care Association of America (UCAOA). It is offered to graduates of an accredited Family Medicine or Combined Medicine-Pediatrics program, who wish to further their knowledge base and enhance their procedural skills in the fast growing specialty of Urgent Care Medicine. This is the first fellowship of its kind to focus on the advance training necessary for a successful career in Urgent Care. There are currently two fellows participating in the current academic year and they are available to discuss the program with applicants. The fellowship combines clinical rotations and didactic sessions. The focus of the fellowship will be in the Management of Acute Illness and Injury in the Urgent Care setting. Emphasis will be placed on Orthopedics, Radiology, Trauma Care, Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Adult and Pediatric Emergencies and Disposition Management. There will be a longitudinal component in two of our network urgent cares as well as rotations through pertinent specialties. There will be a didactic component and opportunities for teaching and research. Employment Assistance will be provided at the end of the fellowship. Supervision for the program will be provided by the clinical staff of University Hospitals Urgent Care under the direction of its Fellowship Director, Dr. Natasha Cruz and Associate Director, Dr. Brett Kaplan, in collaboration with the Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine at University Hospitals Case Medical Center, Dr. George Kikano.
