High Calorie, High Protein Recipes High Calorie, High Protein Shakes Using Nutrition Supplements Nutrition supplements are liquid, powder, or solid foods that have extra calories, protein, vitamins, and minerals. These recipes are made with common nutrition supplements like Ensure, Ensure Clear, Boost and Carnation Breakfast Essentials. Check your local grocery store or online for other brands of nutrition supplements. All ingredients listed in the recipes below can be switched out for other flavors or brands of nutrition supplements. Store or generic brands often cost less than name brands. Refreshing Fruit Sorbet Makes: 3 servings Prep Time: 5 minutes 4 fl oz Peach Ensure Clear 1 cup frozen pineapple pieces 2 fresh strawberries, whole Directions: Add Ensure Clear, pineapple and strawberries to blender and blend until desired consistency. Pour into glass. Store sorbet in the freezer in a freezer-safe container. High Calorie, High Protein Shakes without Using Nutrition Supplements To make these shakes you will need a blender, food processor, or hand mixer. It takes about 1-2 minutes to mix the ingredients to a smooth consistency. If you have lactose intolerance, use lactose-free drinks instead of regular milk. This includes soy milk, almond milk or Lactaid milk. Banana Malt 1 banana 1 cup vanilla ice cream 1 tablespoon non-fat dry milk Peanut Butter Banana Shake 1 frozen banana ¼ cup peanut butter ½ cup vanilla ice cream Spiced Milkshake ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk ½ cup vanilla ice cream ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 tablespoon cinnamon Warm Coffee Drink ¾ cup whole milk, warmed 1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk ¼ cup heavy whipping cream, warmed 2 tablespoons powdered sugar 1 teaspoon instant decaffeinated coffee powder 2 tablespoons whipped cream (for topping) Blend all ingredients except the 2 tablespoons whipped cream with a whisk or spoon until smooth. Top with whipped cream. Fruit Smoothie 1 cup fresh or frozen fruit (strawberries, blueberries, peaches, melon, banana or mixture) ½ cup plain, vanilla or fruit-flavored full fat yogurt 1 cup milk (2%, whole) or ½ cup milk, ½ cup orange juice Other add-ons: 1-2 Tbsp honey, 2 Tbsp flax, 2 Tbsp Chia, 1-2 scoops protein powder, 2 Tbsp heavy cream, 1-2 Tbsp flavored syrup Dilute with extra milk to desired thickness Sherbet Shake ½ cup sherbet ½ cup whole milk Double Chocolate Malt ¼ cup chocolate milk 1 cup vanilla ice cream 1 tablespoon malt powder 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup Peanut Butter Malt 1 cup vanilla ice cream 2 tablespoons peanut butter 1 tablespoon malt powder Milkshake 1 cup whole milk 1/2 cup ice cream 1 tablespoon honey 1 teaspoon vanilla White Lightning 1-6 oz. can frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed 1-8 oz. carton fruit flavored yogurt 1 medium banana 1/2 cup nonfat dry milk 1/2 cup shredded coconut 12 ice cubes partially crushed Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend at high speed until ice cubes are crushed and the mixture is frothy. Green Smoothie 1 ½ bananas, frozen ½ cup raw spinach ¼ cup raw zucchini 2 Tbsp. almonds 1 teaspoon chia seeds ½ scoop of protein powder of your choice 1 Tbsp. peanut butter Ice (if needed) Place all ingredients in a blender container. Cover and blend on high speed until smooth. Chill before serving. Hot Chocolate 1 square of unsweetened chocolate 1/4 teaspoons sugar 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 cup milk dash of salt Blend until chocolate is dissolved. Serve hot, topped with whipped cream. 6
