Safety Nonstop for airports Seamless safety throughout all areas

Safety Nonstop for airports 40 years experience in safety technology HIMA safety systems protect the assets of the world s major oil and gas, chemical, pharmaceutical and energy-producing companies as well as systems in the fields of logistics, machine safety and rail traffic. We have applied this knowhow and our broad experience to the development of safe and proven solutions for a wide variety of airport areas. Our highly qualified engineers have extensive experience with airport applications. HIMA LIFECYCLE SERVICES The operators of airport systems, like all HIMA customers, ben- efit from the comprehensive and versatile services we provide. Permanent safety and profitability All HIMA airport solutions are based on proven HIMA safety controllers, featuring intuitive programming and the capacity to be networked and integrated with cross-manufacturer communication interfaces. The result: HIMA solutions are always a perfect fit in any technical environment, whether it involves a conversion project or new investment. As with all HIMA solutions, the foundation of the company s solutions is the Safety. Nonstop. principle. They not only create permanent safety, but they also prevent unnecessary stops and help to achieve uninterrupted and profitable system/ plant operations. HIMA Lifecycle Services offers an overview of all functional safety requirements and consistently supports the right decision at the right time. More information at: www.hima.com/lifecycle_services HIMA. Safety. Nonstop. It s a philosophy more than 100 years in the making. It s built on HIMA s singular focus on safety and is proven by decades of technology breakthroughs. It represents our commitment to providing maximum safety and uninterrupted plant operations. Our goal isn t just to design the world s best safety systems. It s to help keep your business safe and running. No shutdowns. No failures. Maximum uptime. Maximum profitability.

Seamless safety throughout all areas In the airport safety sector, HIMA offers solutions for nearly all safety-critical applications. Whether refuelling systems, baggage handling systems or terminals: HIMA offers seamless safety throughout all areas. Based on its proven safety technology, HIMA provides innovative solutions, powerful products and extensive services. The advantages for the airport operator: Maximum safety, flexibility and profitability. Safety Independent safety networks Uncritical compound of safety-related and nonsafety-related data Safety-related data transmission with safeethernet Redundancy Fastest response times Detailed diagnosis Alarms via systems such as panels, SMS, PDA, etc. Processing of complex data Flexibility Modular structure allows changes and extensions at any point in time in accordance with the individual needs A broad range of network topologies are supported Optimal adaptability to the local plant structure thanks to a comprehensive hardware portfolio, open interfaces and numerous communication options Media-independent data transfer Simple integration in existing machinery, process and building control systems Profitability Standard Ethernet technology Higher plant availability thanks to distributed intelligence Centralized and decentralized PES structures No costly and error-prone interfaces Offline logic simulation Single-channel design of safety loops Reduced installation efforts High degree of planning and investment flexibility thanks to open systems

Fast reaction and high availability Airport safety often depends on responses within fractions of a second. HIMA solutions are as quick as a flash. Featuring very short response times of up to 5 ms, our HIMatrix series safety-related controllers and remote I/Os are among the fastest of their type in the world. Combining the HIMatrix safety-related systems with the safety bus safeethernet, the high-availability HIMax system and guaranteed redundant communications, HIMA is able to provide the perfect safety solutions for airports. Four scenarios exemplify how HIMA safety systems work Scenario 1: Leak in the kerosene pipeline to the tank farm There is an extremely high risk of fire and explosion. HIMA's emergency shutdown (ESD) system detects and locates the leak. The affected pipeline area is shut down immediately. The integration of the HIMA system into the airport control system ensures that the emergency scenarios for the nearby parking garage run according to plan. Scenario 3: Accident in the baggage conveyor system Maintenance work is progressing on the baggage conveyor system. Suddenly, someone screams. A worker is pulled by the hand into the conveyor system. But thanks to HIMA's networked safety system, another staff member can activate the emergency stop from a distance and shut down the plant in a split second. Scenario 2: Fire in the terminal Due to a short-circuit, a coffee machine in a terminal service room catches fire. The fire detection system alerts the HIMatrix system. All corresponding safety functions are triggered quickly and reliably. HIMA's intelligent evacuation management initiates evacuation in the affected part of the building. A mixing of people in restricted und unrestricted areas is avoided; impact on airport traffic is insignificant. Scenario 4: Explosion on the airport apron A plane waiting on the airport apron is losing oil from its engine. It catches fire, and the jet engine explodes. The refuelling plant is safely shut down through the network of remote HIMatrix systems, the airport fire department is informed and the evacuation of the neighbouring departure terminal is initiated. The redundant ring structure for communication guarantees the maximum availability of all systems. HIMatrix safety controllers Compact and modular safety controllers as well as remote I/O modules Proven HIMA safety technology Certified for use up to SIL 3 in accordance with IEC 61508 50128 and up to PL e in accordance with EN 13849 Response times of 5 ms possible Communication: Ethernet TCP/UDP, RS485, RS422, RS232 Communication via safeethernet and numerous industrial protocols such as PROFINET, PROFIsafe via PROFINET, Modbus TCP. Proprietary protocols can be created by the user If necessary, the high-availability safety system can be integrated into the network If necessary, the safety network can be structured redundantly HIMatrix HIMax, redundant network via safeethernet

Fully integration capable Seamless control throughout all levels HIMA's safety solutions control and regulate dynamic scenarios. The safety-related programmable logic controllers (PLCs) serve as superordinate management systems and reliably connect the broadest variety of different protection-relevant safeethernet solutions are based on standard Ethernet technology (IEEE 802.3) and offer: TÜV-certified up to PL e, Cat. 4, and SIL 3 Data transfer at 100 Mbit/s Very short reaction times ensured within the required safety time No restrictions in terms of physical distance Up to 128 systems per Ethernet segment can be networked Intelligent, diversified redundancy concepts Integration of safety-related and non-safety-related data into existing standard Ethernet networks without impairing safety Transfer media: copper, ISDN/DSL, fibre optic cables, satellites and wireless applications Line, tree, start and ring structures areas with one another. All components and I/O extensions (RIOs) are integrated into the overall signalling concept of the airport. The connection to the existing airport control system is established via a protocol such as Modbus TCP. An engineering tool for all the functions SILworX is the fully integrated configuration, programming and diagnostic tool from HIMA. The intuitive user interface with graphical drag and drop programming reduces application errors and speeds up the engineering process. A range of user levels, the display of all status and diagnostic information, and comprehensive validation tools guarantee quick planning and commissioning. Flexible programming using function block diagrams, sequential function charts IEC 61131-3 compliant, supporting all functions and variable types for safety-related programming References I For more information, refer to our website www.hima.com Baggage conveyor system at the Frankfurt am Main Airport Refuelling system at the OT Tambo Jet A1 pipeline Hannover Airport International Airport (JNB), Johannes b.
