AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY SCAVENGER HUNT Begin on the 4 th floor. Take the stairs since they are faster than the elevators. Look but do not touch while in the museum. Keep your voices low but feel free to discuss everything! No running, so walk and enjoy! Question 1: When you find the dinosaur with a row of plates on its back and spikes on its tail, you are in the right hall. What is its name? _ Question 2: Look around. Find two moving jaws in this hall. What are the names of the two motions? _ and Question 3: To find where to proceed next, find a duck or is it a duck? It will be facing in the direction of the next area. Since it is not really a duck what is it?

Question 4: The duck will point you in the direction where you will find the longest tooth you have ever seen. What animal s mouth is the tooth in? Question 5: Move to the next hall and find the largest deer ever to have lived and the extinct relatives of the elephants. Question 6: The next area begins with the largest jaws you have ever seen flying on the ceiling. What animal did they come from? Question 7: Look for an animal with a hard shell, soft arms and legs, a head that can hide and lives for a long, long time. You have not seen one bigger than this, what is it? _ Question 8: They look like birds but they are flying reptiles. What is their scientific name?

Re-group at the orientation center next to the big dinosaur. The team leader will give you three names of extinct animals. Can you name today s relatives? Question 9: Find the dinosaur that lays the largest eggs. _ Wait for the expert, they will teach you about remains of a distant, lost world. Question 10: On your way out of the hall think about being on a beach. These animals would be flying above you trying to eat your sandwich! How many do you see that are in flight? Meet us at the 4 th floor meeting point; tell us the magic phase using the letters you have discovered highlighted. This will lead you to the next adventure. _

3 rd floor (Reptiles and Amphibians) Question 11: If you were traveling through the swamps of Southern United States what would you see a crocodile or an alligator? _ Question 12: The number of the flying seagulls plus the number of the letters of the reptile name above, it will give you the length of the longest snake. How long is it? feet. And what is its name? _ When you find a turtle with leather on its back, turn around and go to the hall where antelopes run in the steps of Africa trying to escape the hungry lions and rhinoceros play in the water holes. Question 13: Find a monkey that looks like a skunk _ Question 14: If a white rhino that lives in Zaire, travels to see its black rhino cousin where he would be going? _

Question 15: What is the name of the baboon with the blue and the red face? _ Question 16: If you were a cheetah, how long it would take you to go from New York to Boston (NY to Boston 210 miles)? _ hours Meet us at the 3 rd floor meeting point; find the magic word using the highlighted letters, not necessary in the same order, if it is correct the team leader will tell you where to go next _ p

2 nd floor (Hall of African Mammals) Question 17: If you have a team of acrobats, all 6 feet tall, how many acrobats would you need standing on each other s shoulders to pet a giraffe? _ Question 18: If you have a team of weight lifter athletes who each can lift 100 pounds, how many do you need to lift an African buffalo _ Question 19: How much heavier is the largest antelope than the African buffalo? pounds. What is the name of the antelope? Question 20: What is the name of a forest dwelling relative of the giraffe, whose legs look like zebras legs? _ Meet up at the meeting point of the 2 nd floor before you go to the next hall. Move to the Asian Mammals Hall

Question 21: How many Asian elephants and Indian Rhinos are on display? _ elephants and _ rhinos Question 22: Find a smooth otter, what does it have in its mouth? Meet us at the 2 nd floor meeting point and go to the first floor, where nature shows its diversity The team leader will give you the next set of clues.

1 st floor (Hall of Biodiversity) Question 23: Go into the rain forest, do you see any animals? What are they? _ Question 24: Look at the ceiling: Look for creatures with tentacles, one has long and thin ones and the other has shorter and thicker

Go to the hall of Ocean Life Question 25: Why do some fish light up under water? Question 26: What is this process called? _ Question 27: How much does a blue whale weigh? pounds Question 28: How long a whale lives? to years Question 39: What does a blue whale eat? _ Question 30: How a dolphin navigates in the ocean?

Remove these words from the puzzle and the secret phrase will be revealed. Speak this phrase to your team leader to enter the next level.
