Artisan Thermostatic basin mixer Fitting Instructions & Contents List Please keep these instructions for future reference and request of replacement parts

1. Introduction Thank you for choosing Bristan, the UK s leading taps and showers expert. We have designed this product with your enjoyment in mind. To ensure that it works to its full potential, it needs to be fitted correctly. These fitting instructions have been created to give you all of the information you need and, if you need any further help, please do not hesitate to give us a call on 0844 701 6273. 2. Specification Operating pressure range (bar) Min. Max. Thermostatic bath shower mixer 0.2 5.0 Maximum static pressure 10.0 bar Factory set temperature - 38ºC (can be re-set / overridden to suit site conditions). Recommended min. Hot supply: 60ºC. Maximum Hot supply: 80ºC NOTE:- Nominally equal (balanced) inlet supply pressures are recommended for optimum performance. If pressures are unequal, then a pressure reducing valve should be used. This valve has been designed to comply with BS EN 1111:1999 and BS EN 1287:1999, manufactured to the highest quality standards and to be used within systems designed to BS 6700. BS 6700 recommends the temperature of stored water should never exceed 65 C. A stored water temperature of 60 C is considered sufficient to meet all nominal requirements and will minimise the build up of lime scale in hard water areas. 02

3. Pack Contents List 1 1. Basin Mixer Body x1 2. Rubber washer x1 3. Rubber C shaped washer x1 4. Metal C shaped washer x1 5. Nut x1 6. Threaded rod x1 7. flexi connecting pipes x 2 8. Pop up waste assembly and Rods x 1 4. Pre Installation 2 3 4 5 6 7 4.1 Identify all components and check for completeness, particularly before arranging fitting. 4.2 This mixer should be installed in compliance with water regulations. For further details contact your Local Water Authority. 4.3 This mixing valve is suitable for use with the following systems: Gravity Fed Hot & Cold (Equal Pressure) Unvented Systems Gas Combination Boiler Pumped System (Equal Pressure) PLEASE NOTE: On gravity systems the minimum distance from the underside of the water tanks / cylinder to the bath filler must be at least 2 metres. 4.4 Before connecting the mixer, water should be flushed through the system to remove all debris. 03

5. Installation (See Fig 1) 5.1 Place the mixer onto the basin, the rubber washer (2) goes between the basin and the basin mixer. 5.2 Screw the nut (5) onto the threaded rod (6) to secure the mixer to the basin. 5.3 Connect water supplies to the flexible connecting pipes (7). Hot on the left, Cold on the right (when viewed from the front). 5.4 Fit the pop-up waste, with the rubber washer below and the foam washer above the basin. It is advised that a silicon sealant be applied to both sealing faces of the washers. The plug height can be set by adjusting the waste rod operating rod, rod connector and the screw in the base of the plug. Friction for the waste mechanism can be adjusted using the horizontal rod friction nut. (DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN). 5.5 Turn on the water supplies letting the mixer run at both hot and cold settings for a few minutes to check connections for any leaks. PLEASE NOTE: this information is very important when installing this product. Tighten connecting pipes fully by Hand only. Tighten pop-up waste friction nut by Hand only. Allow access for future servicing / maintenance. Pop-up waste operating rods fit through the basin and then through the ceramic hole and moves freely when tap is secured to the basin. Fig. 1 04

6. Setting (See Fig 2) The temperature is factory set at 38ºC, however this may be overridden by simply depressing the button on the temperature handle when it reaches the stop and continue to turn the handle anti-clockwise until the desired temperature is reached. This can however be adjusted for site conditions or personal preference. To do this you will need to: Fig. 2 Remove the cap (e). Unscrew the retaining screw (d). Remove the handle (c). Turn the spindle in the required direction To increase or decrease hot or cold temperature. Replace the handle (c) so that the stop (b) is in the maximum position. Screw the retaining screw (d) back into position and replace the cap (e). 7. Fault Diagnosis If your mixer fails to function correctly, the following should be checked: 1. Check that the hot and cold connections are the correct way around. Hot on the left and Cold on the right (when viewed from the front). 2. Ensure that the hot water temperature is adequate; the recommended minimum temperature is 60ºC. The hot water temperature should be at least 10ºC higher than the blend temperature to ensure that the safety shut off will work. 05

8. Cleaning & Maintenance Your fitting has a high quality finish and should be treated with care to preserve the visible surfaces. All finishes will wear if not cleaned correctly. The only safe way to clean your product is to wipe with a soft damp cloth. Stains can be removed using washing up liquid. All bathroom cleaning product (powders and liquids) will damage the surface of your fitting, even the non-scratch cleaners. NOTE:- Never use abrasive detergents or disinfectants or those containing alcohol, hydrochloric or phosphoric acid. We advise that your fitting is regularly serviced, particularly in hard water areas. Maintenance (See Fig 2) Should the valve need to be dismantled for maintenance then the procedure is: 1. Reassemble the cartridge after having cleaned the inside of the valve body and the cartridge. 5. For the flow control, remove the cap (g), making sure the water supply is turned off remove the handle retaining screw (H), and pull off handle (i). Unscrew the valve (j) using a suitable spanner and check for wear, damage or debris. 6. Reassemble the valve after cleaning. 7. Replace handle and components and turn on the water supplies.
