Warranty Villeroy & Boch provides a FIVE-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY for its Villeroy & Boch branded vitreous china and fine fire clay plumbing fixtures to be free of defects in material and workmanship. This warranty is extended only to the original purchaser and installer of the product. This warranty is non-transferable. Villeroy & Boch also warrants its Villeroy & Boch branded acrylic tubs for a period of five years from date of purchase against defects in material and workmanship. All other products, accessories, components, and parts are warranted against defects in workmanship, and material for a period of one year from date of original purchase. This warranty applies to unmodified products when properly installed and maintained for their normal and intended noncommercial application. Excluded are all industrial, commercial, and business usage, whose purchasers are hereby extended a two-year limited warranty. Villeroy & Boch is not responsible for removal of defective product or installation costs of replacement pieces. Excluded from coverage through this warranty are items used as plumbing fixture trim, various fittings, bowl seats, and tank flushing mechanisms. Changes in finish gloss, scratching, staining and other effects from chemical use, water and atmospheric conditions are not considered manufacturing defects but are considered normal wear and tear. Variations in color will occur naturally due to manufacturing processes and are not covered under this warranty. Villeroy & Boch reserves the right to make changes in product design, manufacturing process, packaging, or availability at any time without notice. Villeroy & Boch will, at its discretion, repair, replace, or make applicable adjustment should Villeroy & Boch inspection disclose covered defects. 3 Pre-Installation Recommended tools and supplies (not included): Adjustable wrench Hacksaw Level Pencil Pipe wrench Putty knife Screwdriver Supply shutoff valve Tape measure T-bolts (2) Water supply line Wax ring Important Turn off the water supply. If the existing toilet does not have a shutoff valve below the tank, install a new shutoff valve now. After removing the existing toilet, stuff a heavy rag into the outlet hole to prevent gases from escaping. Remove any floor-mounted decorative molding or trim. Using a Villeroy & Boch seat is recommended. If using a different seat, it may be necessary to remove the nylon anchors from the bowl before water closet installation. All dimensions are nominal. Required measurements: Ensure that the water supply and closet flange are located according to the roughing-in dimensions shown. (See Figure 1.1) Measure from the finished wall to the centerline of the outlet (normally 12"). Keep this measurement handy as you will need it later. Important In the event that the water supply is located at a different position than indicated, the use of a flexible water supply line is recommended. The flush valve and fill valve are installed and preset at the factory. To change settings, see the Troubleshooting section. Before beginning the installation: 1. Remove all installation materials (bolts, guides, etc.) from water closet tank, bowl, and seat. 2. Ensure that the inside of the water closet tank is clean. 4 Measuring and fitting the VARIO drain bend: Figure 1.2 Important The standard rough-in is approximately 12". Follow the instructions below for either a standard or non-standard rough-in. Y X Z Dimension X equals rough-in distance minus 1" Standard rough-in: If your rough-in is approximately 12", then remove 1 3/4" (4 ribs) from the VARIO drain bend, and proceed to step 8below. 1" Non-standard rough-in: If your rough-in is not standard and the distance from the wall to the centerline of the closet flange is within the range specified in Figure 1.1, then customize the length of the VARIO drain bend using the procedures below. 1. After removing the bowl from packaging, gently turn it over onto the cardboard box. 2. Measure from the back of the water closet's farthest point and mark a line on the bottom part of the bowl for your rough-in measurement X. (See X in Figure 1.2) Figure 1.3 Z Measurement X = 3. Remove the VARIO drain bend from packaging. Place the rubber gasket s larger side on the open end of the VARIO drain bend, ensuring it is pushed all the way on. (See Figure 1.2) 4. Push the VARIO drain bend onto the outlet hole on the underside of the water closet, ensuring it is pushed all the way on. 5. Make another mark on the bottom of the bowl at the center of the VARIO drain bend floor-mounting holes. (Measurement Y in Figure 1.2) 6. Measure the distance between the two pencil marks. This distance is the amount of tubing that needs to be cut from the end of the VARIO drain bend. (Measurement Z in Figure 1.2) Floor-mounting holes Stays Measurement Y = 7. Remove rubber gasket and cut the VARIO drain bend as necessary. (Measurement Z in Figure 1.2) 8. Reinstall rubber gasket and slide the drain bend and gasket onto the outlet hole on the underside of the water closet. 9. The center of the floor-mounting holes should now line up with your initial pencil mark. Also ensure that the holes of the stays on the VARIO drain bend line up with the holes on the side of the bowl. 3 hommage 2 PIECE WATER CLOSET Revision A Villeroy & Boch

5 WL CL Installing the VARIO drain bend: Figure 1.4 Important If replacing a water closet, remove the previous wax ring using a putty knife. The existing closet flange and T-bolts can be reused if they are undamaged. 1. Install the wax ring to the VARIO drain bend and push the drain bend onto the outlet, ensuring the drain bend opening is centered over the outlet. (See Figure 1.4) 2. Attach the VARIO drain bend to the floor. 3. Ensure that the collar gasket is applied to the end of the VARIO drain bend. Wax ring (2x) Installation Instructions Attaching the tank to the bowl: 1. Hand-tighten the water supply hose to the fill valve. Make sure that tightening the supply hose does not cause the fill valve to spin inside the tank. 2. Remove the wing nuts and washers from the bottom of the tank. 3. Thread the water supply hose through the bowl. 4. Carefully lower the tank onto the bowl, making sure that the sponge washer is centered over the bowl inlet and that the bolts align with the holes. (See Figure 1.5) 5. Install the metal washers and hand-tighten the wing nuts evenly to secure the tank to the bowl. The tank may wobble during installation, but ensure that it is level before firmly securing. Important Do not over tighten the wing nuts. Figure 1.5 Figure 1.6 Installing the water closet onto the VARIO drain bend: 1. Push the water closet tightly onto the VARIO drain bend. 2. Level the bowl in all directions. Placing shims under the bowl may be necessary if the floor is not level. 3. Install the screws and plastic guards provided through the holes on the side of the bowl into the stays on the VARIO drain bend. Place cap over hole. (See Figure 1.6) 4. 6 Adjusting the flush button height: 1. Adjust the flush button height to meet the inside of the tank cover. (See Figure 1.7) It may be easier to remove the flush valve from the tank before proceeding. (See Figure 1.11) a. Twist the blue tab clockwise on the top of the flush valve. b. Pull upward on the bottom of the flush button adjustment bar. c. Apply the tank cover and ensure that the button opening reaches the inside of the tank cover. d. Twist the blue tab counterclockwise into the locked position. 2. Place the cover on the tank and install the flush button into the hole. (See Figure 1.8) 3. Flush several times and check for leaks. 7 Installing the seat: 1. Press the elbow bolts firmly into the hinges on the seat. 2. Slide the thin plastic washer on the elbow bolts. 3. Guide the elbow bolts down through the holes in the bowl to put the seat in place. 4. Reaching under the bowl, guide the metal washers with the plastic cover onto the elbow bolts. Ensure that the exposed metal on the washer is facing away from the ceramic. 5. Evenly hand-tighten the hex nuts onto the elbow bolts. 6. 8 Care and Cleaning Regular care For everyday care of your Villeroy & Boch product, we recommend using a soft, non-scratching sponge or cloth. If you need to use a cleaning agent, a vinegar-based cleaner is the best choice. Vinegar-based cleaners are natural and biodegradeable, and effective against scale, grease, and soap residues. Heavy soiling There are many excellent cleaners available for keeping your Villeroy & Boch product beautiful for many years to come without damaging the surface. Whatever cleaner you choose should be free from any abrasives or harsh chemicals such as: Scouring liquids or powders Highly concentrated drain cleaners Metal brushes or cleaning pads containing metal Caution should be taken not to use products with high chlorine contents. Never use chlorine based products in a water closet tank as they can permanently harm internal parts, potentially cause leaking and will void the warranty. Bowl cleaners should be used only inside of the bowl. 9 Troubleshooting PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE CORRECTIVE ACTION Water closet does not flush. Poor or sluggish flush. 1. Water supply valve is closed. 2. Supply line is blocked. 1. Water level in the tank is too low. 2. Supply valve is partially closed. 1. Open the valve and allow water to fill the tank. 2. Shut off the water supply, disconnect the supply line and inspect all gaskets and washers. Reassemble per installation instructions. 1. Follow instructions to adjust the tank water level. (See Figure 1.14) 2. Open the supply valve fully. Water closet leaks. Water closet does not shut off. 3. Partially clogged trapway and/or drain pipe and/or vent. 4. Flush volume needs adjustment. 5. Supply pressure is too low. 6. Outlet is partially blocked by wax ring. 1. Poor supply line connection. 2. Poor bowl-to-tank/floor connection. 1. Water level in the tank is set too high. 2. Flush valve seal is too tight, holding the flush valve open. 3. Flush valve seat and/or flush valve seal is worn or deformed. 4. Sand or debris is lodged in water control. 5. Overflow pipe is set too low. 3. Unclog passage with a plunger or auger. Consult your plumber if necessary. 4. Adjust the flush volume using the steps. (See Figure 1.12) 5. Normal supply pressure must be at least 20 psi. 6. Install a new wax ring. 1. Review installation instructions. 1. Follow instructions to adjust the tank water level. (See Figure 1.14) 2. Readjust the flush valve seal as needed. 3. Replace the seal or entire flush valve assembly as needed. 4. Shut of water supply. Remove flush valve cap and clean. Reassemble per installation instructions. 5. Adjust overflow pipe. (See Figure 1.13) Removing the flush valve (top portion): 1. Release the top portion of the flush valve by pinching the white tabs centered over the flush valve seal. 2. Pull the top portion upwards, releasing it from its base. 3. Make all necessary adjustments before reinstalling and adding water to the tank. 4. Reinstall the flush valve by pinching the white tabs and securing on its base. 10 To adjust the 0.8 gallon flush (large and small button together), perform the following: 1. Twist the blue cup counterclockwise to release it from the lock position. 2. To increase the volume, lower the blue cup down the shaft. To decrease the volume, raise the blue cup up the shaft. 3. Twist the blue cup clockwise to lock it in place. To adjust the 1.6 gallon flush (large button alone), perform the following: 1. To decrease the volume, slide the blue tab toward the - sign. 2. To increase the volume, slide the blue tab toward the + sign. Figure gpf gpf - Adjusting the overflow pipe height: 1. Remove the overflow pipe safety tab (white tab inside of blue lock, see Figure 1.13) from the overflow pipe on the flush valve and ensure that you able to slide the blue lock as needed. If there is not room in the tank to slide the blue lock, proceed to the steps below. Figure If you cannot slide the blue lock: a. Loosen the plastic nut below the tank and remove the flush valve. 2 b. Remove the white overflow pipe safety tab from the blue lock. c. Replace the flush valve into the tank allowing room to adjust the overflow pipe. You may need to orient the flush valve in a new direction to allow adjustment of the overflow pipe. 3 d. Replace blue lock and white safety tab once the overflow pipe is at the desired height. Adjusting the tank water level: Figure 1.14 Important If necessary, drain the tank and remove the fill valve. 1. Remove the blue tab from the fill valve. CL 2. Twist the top portion of the fill valve counterclockwise so it can move freely up and down. WL 3. Slide the top portion to the desired water level height, noticing the water level (WL) line on fill valve. 4. Twist the top portion clockwise to secure. 5. Return the blue tab to lock the fill valve in position. 6. Reinstall the fill valve. 7. Open the water shut-off valve and check for leaks.
