No Compromises Efficient and clean. Compact yet powerful. The MAN 28/33D STC represents MAN Diesel & Turbo s synthesis of world-class engineering and state-of-the-art technology. This engine brings highly efficient, reliable, economical and environmentally friendly solutions to the propulsion requirements of our marine customers. For over a century, MAN Diesel & Turbo has focused its efforts on developing and improving engines that meet propulsion and power generation requirements. This dedicated approach has resulted in engine types like the MAN 28/33D STC. It has allowed MAN Diesel & Turbo to create a whole engine range to meet a broad scope of marine propulsion requirements, many of which taken together have previously meant making compromises. Not so with the MAN 28/33D STC, as there s no need to compromise. The pinnacle of sophisticated engineering, this range offers 12-, 16-, and 20-cylinder configurations covering power requirements of up to 10,000 kw per unit. It also features the most powerful and fuel-efficient 1,000 rpm diesel engine in the world. Reaping the benefits The development of the MAN 28/33D STC was not left to chance. Fueled by extensive field experience, it offers pioneering design options spanning an extensive set of unique features. Starting with the engine s advanced electronic fuel injection system, customers can rely on improved SFOC, reduced NO X and smoke emissions, and ultimate performance. A number of factors come together in this engine, guaranteeing uncomplicated installation and maintenance. The cooling concept includes aligned cylinder units to eliminate water passages in the crankcase and minimize the unit s installed weight. Designed with a clever 52-degree Vee angle, the inter-cooler assembly is centrally mounted, also contributing to the engine s lightweight, compact design. All this is rounded off by the engine-mounted lubricating oil cooler, filters, and thermostatic valves, which were specially engineered to contribute to optimized water-based cooling. Another key feature is the sequential turbocharging (STC) version for high torque at low rpm, enabled by highly efficient MAN turbochargers. The bottom line is that the MAN 28/33D STC is simply unbeatable in terms of design and benefits that add tangible value for customers. Facts and figures: engines you can count on The MAN 28/33D STC offers compact yet powerful engines that set themselves apart with a high powerto-weight ratio. All engines are fully compliant with current environmental standards, producing NO X emissions that fulfill IMO II and EPA TIER 2 regulations. Maintenance costs are kept low thanks to high engine availability. And with main overhauls only necessary every 32,000 hours, servicing downtime is kept to a minimum. As a result, customers can count on low overall operating costs and best-in-class SFOC (MGO [DMA, DMZ] acc. to ISO 8217-2010 or equivalent). 4 MAN 28/33D STC
