The radio should not be exposed to dripping or splashing, and no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, must be placed on the radio. Avoid installing the unit in locations described below: Places exposed to direct sunlight or close to heat radiating appliances such as electric heaters. On top of other stereo equipments that have too much heat radiation. Dusty places or places with poor ventilation. Places subject to constant vibration. Humid or moist places. No inflammable materials such as candles should be placed on or near the radio. Operate the radio as instructed in the manual. Discard used batteries in an environmentally friendly manner. Before turning on the power for the first time, make sure the power cord is properly installed. Changing the batteries Your product requires 4 x AA batteries (not provided) for operation. Batteries should be removed and replaced by adults only. Only use recommended batteries or those of the same or equivalent type. Do not mix old and new batteries or batteries of different types. Batteries should be inserted with the correct polarity. The supply terminals should not be short-circuited. Remove flat batteries from item. Remove batteries if equipment is not used for extended periods of time. Rechargeable batteries should be removed from the item before being recharged. Rechargeable batteries should only be charged under adult supervision. Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries. Batteries contain substances that may be harmful to the environment and human health. Keep out of the reach of children and seek immediate medical help if swallowed. This symbol indicates that batteries should not be disposed of in the normal household waste but taken to appropriate local recycling facilities, where and when these are available. Never throw batteries into a fire or attempt to open their outer casing. This symbol indicates that this product should not be treated as normal household waste and that it should be recycled. Using your DAB/FM radio 1. Turn on/off the unit Turn the volume button towards the right. A click means on, turn volume button towards the left. A click means off. 4
2. Standby When unit is on, press to turn into standby mode. 3. Mode Switch When the unit is on, press Mode to switch DAB/FM. 4. DAB radio mode 4.1. Turn on the unit, the display will show Welcome to Digital Radio, then go into FM mode, press Mode to switch to DAB mode. Press Scan/Dimmer to start search, the LCD display shows Full Scan and as the search progresses, it will also show the number of stations found. When the search has finished, the radio will play the first station found, if no signal is found, the display will show No Service. Note: At the first power connection, the unit default will be DAB mode. In subsequent operations, the unit will remember the last working mode, if for example you listened to FM radio last time, the unit will enter into FM mode next time turn it on. 4.2. Under DAB mode, turn Tun+/- to switch stations on the play lists, and press Enter to start playing, Once you have chosen a station, press Enter to start playing. 4.3. If you want to preset it a DAB station, press and hold Preset in DAB playing mode, the display shows Preset XX Save, then turn the Tun+/- button to choose numbers and press Enter. The display will show two lines Preset xx Save Saved XX, and return to playing status. This way you can save 10 DAB stations. Please note: XX means the preset station number, which will run from 01 to10. 4.4. If you want to listen to preset stations, press Preset, then turn Tun+/- to choose the preset station and then press Enter to start playing. 4.5. When in DAB radio mode, the display will show the station name and DLS (Dynamic Label Segment) information, such as program name, radio subject etc. Press the Info button repeatedly to check station detailed information, such as DLS text, signal level, date, time etc. The content shown in the display will vary and depend on the different stations. Please note: Press and hold the Info button to check the software version. 4.6. Turn Vol+/- to adjust the volume to the desired level. 5
4.7. In DAB mode, the radio will sync station time and date (presupposes activation of station searched. 5. FM mode 5.1 Turn on the radio, the display will show Welcome to Digital Radio, then turn into FM mode at 87.50MHz. 5.2. To search stations manually, turn Tun+/- to adjust a station at frequency increments of 0.05MHz. 5.3. Press Scan/Dimmer to automatically search stations (to higher frequencies), if a signal is received, the radio will stop and play this station. You can also press and hold the Scan/Dimmer button to search station towards lower frequencies, if a signal is received, the radio will stop and play this station. 5.4. Press and hold Preset, and the display will show Preset XX Save, turn Tun+/- to choose the station you want to save, then press Enter, and the display will show Saved XX and go back to play status, the total save capacity is 10 stations. Please note: XX in Saved XX will mean the preset station numbers, which run from 01 to10. 5.5. If you want to listen to saved stations, press Preset, turn Tun+/- to choose preset stations, then press Enter to start playing. 5.6. When playing FM stations, press Info repeatedly to check RDS Radio Text, program type, frequency, date, time etc. The content shown on the display will vary and be based on the respective stations. 5.7. The default audio mode for all stations is stereo. If the station signal is weak this will influence the sound quality. In this situation, press enter to switch between Mono and Auto to improve the sound quality. 6. Factory reset When the unit is on (in DAB or FM mode), press and hold Mode, the display will then display the message Press Enter Key To Reset. If you press Enter to reset, the LCD display will then show System Reset. Once reset, all previously saved stations will be removed. 6
7. Software Version When in FM and DAB Mode, press and hold the Info button to see the software version. 8. Alarm 8.1 ALARM time setting In standby mode, press and hold Alarm to set Alarm1, turn Tun+/- to adjust time, press Alarm to go to the next step, setting in order of hourminute - wake up mode (turn Tun+/- to choose wake up mode Buzz/FM/ DAB), then press Alarm to finish the Alarm1 setting. Once the Alarm1 setting is finished, you go to Alarm2, using the same procedure as for set Alarm1. Please note: please do not set two alarms to go off at the same time, if you do so, only Alarm2 will go off. 8.2 Alarm setting In standby mode, press Alarm and turn the Tun+/- button to choose Alrm1 off/ on. If you choose on, press Alarm to save, then enter into Alarm2 set, choose off/on by using the Tun+/- button, press Alarm to save and exit. 9. Snooze /Sleep 9.1 SNOOZE When the wake-up alarm goes off, press Snooze /Sleep, after 9 minutes, the alarm will go off again. Press when Snooze is activated, and this will deactivate the Snooze function. Please note: if two alarm snooze interval within one hour, only function last alarm snooze after 9 minutes. 9.2 Sleep When the radio is turned on, you press Snooze/Sleep to set the sleep time, then press Snooze/Sleep repeatly to choose the timing, you can choose 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 90 00. Once you choose desired sleep timing, do not operate unit until 5 seconds later, then setting interface exist and sleep time saved, and the display will show S**(where **represents the sleep timing in minutes) 7
10. Dimmer In standby mode, press Scan/Dimmer to adjust the backlight. You have a total of 4 levels to choose from. Is the socket used connected to the power outlet? Has the power lead been removed from the side of the unit without the batteries being installed? Has the adaptor lead been removed from the side of the unit? Are the batteries inserted correctly? Are the batteries run down? Is the volume control set at minimum? Are headphones plugged into the phones jack? Extend the antenna or adjust the position of the radio. FM stereo if weak switch to MONO as this requires less signal strength. Signal is weak. Extend the antenna or adjust the location of the radio. Positions higher up or nearer windows may improve the reception. Try re-orienting the antenna or moving the radio to a different location. Check that your local area has DAB coverage 8
