Page 1 of 5 How to Integrate a Flir Temperature Sensor with PanelView Plus 6 & PanelView Plus 7 Terminals 808536 Date Created: 04/18/2016 Last Updated: 04/22/2016 Access Level: Everyone Email this page Question Can Flir Temperature Sensor data be accessed by PanelView Plus 6 & PanelView Plus 7 Terminals? Answer The Flir Temperature Sensor can be used to view real time thermal data or to capture thermal images. Flir Temperature Sensor data can be accessed by PanelView Plus 6 700-1500 or PanelView Plu Performance terminals using two options. One option is to connect to the temperature sensor's web page and view a live video stream. A second option is to have the temperature sensor send an imag PanelView Plus terminal using the File Transfer Protocol (FTP). Web Page Access The AX8 Flir Temperature Sensor's web page uses HTML 5 content. There is an HTML 5 web browser available for Windows CE 6.0 from Zetakey - Zetakey Download Page (http://www.zetakey.com/download.php). Download the Windows CE 6.0 x86 version. This version can be used on PanelView Plus 6 700-1500 and PanelView Plus 7 Performance terminals. an ARM version, however it is not supported on PanelView Plus 6 400-600 or PanelView Plus 7 Standard. Launch the Zetakey web browser and enter the IP Address of the Flir Temperature Sensor. The ME Program Launcher ActiveX control can be used to launch the Zetakey web browser. See ProgramLauncher ActiveX Control with PanelView Plus 6 and PanelView Plus 7 (//rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/458918) for more information. Then sensor using the appropriate user name and password assigned to the sensor. An Admin account can be assigned that allows full configuration of the sensor. Or, a Viewer account can be assigned tha expose any of the configuration settings of the sensor. Once logged into the sensor, you are viewing a live video stream from the temperature sensor. Note: the video stream may not be smooth stream can be paused by clicking the Pause button in the lower left corner on the CAMERA tab. A snapshot can also be taken for later viewing by clicking the Camera button next to the Pause button. storage area of the sensor can store about 30 images. Viewing a Captured Image The captured image can be viewed by a PanelView Plus 6 Extended Feature terminal or a PanelView Plus 7 Performance terminal. The temperature sensor can be configured to capture an image base alarm condition. The sensor will then send the image (jpg file format) to the PanelView Plus terminal using FTP. A310 If using an A310 Temperature Sensor, use the Flir IR Monitor software to configure the sensor. See t Monitor user manual http://support.flir.com/docdownload/assets/dl/t559495-en-us$aa.pdf (http://support.flir.com/docdownload/assets/dl/t559495-en-us$aa.pdf) for additional information. store the image to an external SD card because of the limited amount of available internal storage on the PanelView Plus terminal. The name of the SD card storage location is 1. Create an account that will be assigned to the FTP Server using the Control Panel applet User Accounts on the PanelView Plus terminal.
Page 2 of 5 2. Adjust the Security options for the FTP Server on the PanelView Plus terminal using the Control Panel applet Server Config. Check Use Authentication and assign the user previous step to User list. 3. Finally, specify the folder location to store the images that are sent via FTP - General->Default Directory. AX8 If using an AX8 Temperature Sensor, access the web page of the temperature sensor using a PC or from the PanelView Plus terminal as described in the Web Page Access section above. 1. In the Measurements & alarms section on the CAMERA tab, click the desired measurement's Alarm icon (bell). 2. Then select the FTP checkbox under ALARM ACTION. 3. Next, select the SETTINGS tab and then Alarm recipients.
Page 3 of 5 4. Click Edit to specify the FTP server on the PanelView Plus terminal and the location to store the image. Use the format user:password@ip address of the PanelView Plus terminal (dude:pass@192.168.1.188). It is recommended to store the image to an external SD card because of the limited internal storage on the PanelView Plus terminal. The name of the SD card storage location is Storage Card2. You could also create a sub-folder beneath Storage Card2 for every sensor the PanelView terminal is accessing to organize the images. The captured images have a unique identifier - date and time stamp from the sensor. The Web Browser ActiveX control can be used to view the captured image files within the FactoryTalk View Machine Edition runtime application. See AID 562226 - Configuration for ME Web Browser A Control (//rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/562226) for more information regarding the Web Browser ActiveX control. Also, the ME Program Launcher ActiveX control can be launch the Image Viewer to view the captured images outside of the FactoryTalk View Machine Edition runtime application. Note: these two viewing options are only supported on PanelView Plus 6 Ex Feature and PanelView Plus 7 Performance terminals.
