Exterior The attached pages illustrate the painting standards for several styles of SCLH homes. Please note that all colors shall be chosen from one palette. Additional accent color palettes for front doors and shutters are available at the back of the Exterior Paint Color Binder. The policy for painting the exterior of your house is as follows: 1. Select a color palette from the Exterior Paint Color Binder. Make sure you review the Exterior on the next pages to determine what paint color can be used on your various house parts. You may obtain paint samples at a nominal cost from your paint store to test the colors on your house. 2. Fill out the Architectural Review Committee (ARC) Paint Application and submit it for approval. 3. After the work is completed, return the Notice of Completion form to the ARC. 4. The ARC will have a look at the finished painting to assure you received the correct color combinations from your painting contractor (or paint store if you did the painting yourself). Some general rules. At least two colors shall be used on all houses and all paint must be non-gloss. There are two siding colors available in all color palettes. Main Body (Body 1) is for the largest area of the house and Secondary Body (Body 2) is for pop-outs and smaller siding areas. Body 1 color may not be used on pop-outs, trim or gutters. Downspouts shall be painted the color of the surface underneath. Front doors may be painted any color on your selected palette, any shutter color or any front door accent color. Shutters may be painted any one of the colors on your selected palette or any color on the shutter palette. No front door accent color may be used for shutters. Garage doors shall be painted the same color as Body 1 or the selected Body 2 color (see color palette for restrictions on Body 2 colors). If you have two garage doors, both shall be painted the same color. All parts of the garage doors shall be painted the same color - no accents around components. Shingles may be painted Body 1 or a Body 2 color (see color palette for restrictions on Body 2 colors). We have specified all colors using Glidden Professional paints. Trim Eave-Line Pop-Out Eave-line pop-outs may be painted the selected Body 2 or trim color Pop-outs shall be painted the selected Body 2 color Gutters shall be painted trim color Horizontal Pop-Out The underside of pop-outs may be painted Body 1 or the selected Body 2 color. SCLH House Style 3 Shingle-Fronted Houses Body 2 or Trim Color All shingles may be painted Body 1 or any Body 2 color (see color palette for restrictions on Body 2 colors). Architectural features may be painted Body 1, the selected Body 2 or trim color All Pop-outs may be painted Body 2 or trim color Stucco siding shall be painted Body 1 color Garage door may be painted Body 1 or the selected Body 2 color (see color palette for restrictions on Body 2 colors). No window-surround accent may be used. For houses with 2 garage doors, both shall be painted the same color Wood above and around garage door may be painted a body 2 color or the selected trim color. Area below stone accent should be painted a color which closely matches color of the stone 4
SCLH for Specific Features Feature at the tops and bottoms of columns may be painted Body 1 or the selected Body 2 color. Architectural features may be painted Body 1, the selected Body 2 or trim color or a combination. Columns may be painted Body 1 or the selected Body 2 color. Shutters may be painted in any one of the colors on your selected palette or the shutter palette. No front door accent color may be used for shutters. Stucco in recessed areas may be painted Body 1 or the selected Body 2 color. All wooden features may be painted Body 1, the selected Body 2 or trim color. No accent color can be used for these features. 5
