Greeting of Dr Hans-Walter Peters Spokesman of the Managing Partners Dear guests, Asset and succession planning involves various aspects. On the one hand, you the next generation need to deal with high responsibilities at an early stage in life and to find your own role within the business or family organisation. On the other hand, asset and succession planning conceals great opportunities for you in the long term. In order to make use of these and retain and increase your assets, it is beneficial to build up an understanding of the mechanism of capital markets and asset investments. We have made it our mission to prepare you for this challenge within the framework of our event, the Berenberg Academy, which will give you great insights into asset investment and succession. In 2012 we set up the Berenberg Academy for the first time in Hamburg. Since then, we have constantly developed this exclusive event further, respecting the specific requests of our guests. As a result we have incor - porated a session on start-up businesses in each event. This year, we are pleased to invite you to our first event in London and look forward to exchanging ideas and discussing a range of topics with you! We are also offering guests the opportunity to bring a friend who may be interested in this event. Warm regards,

Marie Krimphoff Berenberg Art Consult Dr Thomas Kellein Berenberg Art Consult Workshop II Insights into the art market: what is associated with multi-million prices? Francis Bacon, Mark Rothko, Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons: the fine arts set new auction records every year. What do these amazing multi-million amounts mean? What happens to artists, museums and galleries that do not have access to such amounts? Who makes money out of the large deals? And what about young people who start collecting art today, who do not know the investment opportunities and, above all, their own personal involvement? Marie Krimphoff and Dr Thomas Kellein will speak about Berenberg Art Consult, one of Berenberg s specialist departments. Dr Dominik von Au Managing Director INTES Academy for Family Business Workshop III Preserving the family business Succession planning around money, power and love One of the key challenges of every family business is to ensure the successful transition from one generation to the next. Yet whilst theoretically this can be planned, why do roughly half of all family businesses fail in this task? When the successor has to face assuming responsibility of the family business, they should ask themselves a wide range of questions: what role could I play within the context of the family business, if at all? Is being an entrepreneur compatible with my way of life? What effects will succession have on our company and the family? Dr Dominik von Au, managing director at the INTES Academy for Family Business, will elucidate the fundamental structures of family businesses, the different succession models and roles that may be avail able, and how an ownership strategy can help you bring to light the advantages of a family business compared with other company types. 8
Julian Marquardt-Baladurage Co-founder & Managing Partner MBJ London Keynote Speaker Julian Marquardt-Baladurage My passion lies in identifying, incubating and accelerating pre-launch as well as early stage tech startups. Keynote: My talk will focus on the bootstrapping of a high-growth tech business in London that has a consumer-funded business approach, as well as some highlights from my last few years as an entrepreneur. I will also speak about what motivated me to start my own business, and where the similar ities and differences lie in a start-up venture and the corporate world. 9
