Bownet Goals For the U8-U10 Wintrust Illinois Cup, Illinois Youth Soccer will be using Bownet Goals. You can see an example of the goals we will be using here: http://bownet.net/products/66-x-18-soccer-goal We will be using these goals for a few reasons : 1. Player safety : The following two factors were taken into consideration and helped us in making our decision. a). The lack of a hard metal frame as on a standard goal ensures the safety of our youngest players from potential injuries, which could result from colliding with a goal post. b). This decision will also help those players, who are still learning the skills of the goalkeeping position. Not having solid frames will create a safer environment for the goalkeeper to play in the goal area. 2. Player Development : These Bownet goals fit the specific sizes in the US Soccer Player Development Mandates. The US Soccer Player Development Mandates also emphasize players U8-U10 focusing more on their technical skills with the ball at their feet. By not using goals that provide bounce-back off posts, the intention is that the players will focus on aim and taking good shots on goal.
