Since 1 April 06, this includes the former Number 3 Group Battle Management assets with all information, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) functions, the air surveillance and control system (ASACS) and search and rescue (SAR). In addition, No. 2 Group is responsible for JHC co-ordination. Stations: Brize Norton, Lyneham, Northolt, Scampton, Waddington, Kinloss and various SAR Units. Aircraft: VC10 C1K/K2-K4, Tristar KC1/K1/C2, Hercules, Bae 125, Bae 146, Squirrel HCC1, Nimrod MR2, Nimrod R1, Sea King HAR3 and Sentry AEW1, Sentinel R1 and C17 No 22 () Group (AOC: AVM BM North OBE MA RAF) - Responsible for the Personnel selection and training for aviation-related personnel. Other establishments include RAFC Cranwell where Officer is carried out and where HQAC is based. Airman Basic recruit training takes place at RAF Halton Flying Stations include: Cosford, Cranwell (including Barkston Heath), Linton-on-Ouse (including Church Fenton and Topcliffe), St Athan, Shawbury, Valley (including Mona) and Woodvale. Other Establishments and Stations: Amport House, Boddington, Brampton/Wyton/Henlow, JSU Corsham, Digby, Headley Court, Innsworth, Oakhanger and Uxbridge Aircraft include: Mk II Firefly, Tutor T1, Tucano T1, Hawk T1 and Griffin HT1 Also oversees the Red Arrows, based at RAF Scampton (due to move to RAF Waddington by 2011) NOTES: 1. JHC - RAF helicopter squadrons are administrated as part of the Tri-Service Joint Helicopter Command (JHC). 2. Future Aircraft Developments The Nimrod MRA4 project has a revised in-service date The A400M Future Large Aircraft which has a 50% larger payload than the Hercules C130K is expected to enter service after 2010. A total of 25 aircraft will be delivered to the RAF under this contract. The Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft Airbus A330 is to replace air-to-air refuelling and some elements of air transport capability currently provided by VC10 and Tristar. The projected inservice date after 2012. JCA (Joint Combat Aircraft, Lockheed Martin F35) contract was placed in 2005 with the UK to achieve Initial Operational Capability by 2014.
