Overview 1 Overview Notice CR Systems Use the information in this document for all of the following products with the CARESTREAM DIRECTVIEW and KODAK DIRECTVIEW brand: Classic/Elite CR Readers The Classic/Elite CR Readers process and produce digital images directly from latent images captured on storage phosphor screens. The Classic/Elite CR Systems are designed for flexibility in distributed radiography applications. Use the CR System to: Read images on a phosphor screen using conventional X-ray generators. In the European Union, this symbol indicates that when the last user wishes to discard this product, it must be sent to appropriate facilities for recovery and recycling. Contact your local authorized representative for additional information. 9G9637 1-1

The Classic CR Reader includes: Cassette Feed Slot Local User Interface or Easy View display and Remote User Interface Selectable Scan Modes: Standard Mode (High Resolution Scanning) Reduced Border High Speed Mode (Normal Scanning) See Scan Modes on page 2-8. cassette feed slot Local User Interface (LUI) or Easy View display removable access panel H219_0004GC Classic/Elite CR Reader or CR Classic with Easy View Display The Classic/Elite CR Reader supports the following cassette sizes: 15 x 30 cm, 18 x 24 cm, 24 x 30 cm, 35 x 35 cm, 35 x 43 cm, and 35 x 84 cm. Classic/Elite CR and CR Classic with Easy View Display Operation Scan Modes Scan Modes refer to the speed and resolution you can set on a Classic/Elite CR to scan a cassette. Scan Modes affect large cassettes, such as 35 x 35 cm and 35 x 43 cm. You can set three Scan Modes from the Local User Interface Standard Speed Mode Standard Resolution, High Resolution, Enhanced High Resolution Scanning NOTE: In Standard Speed Mode, 35 x 35 cm and 35 x 43 cm cassette sizes are scanned at High Resolution. High Speed Mode Standard Resolution, High Resolution, Enhanced High Resolution Scanning NOTE: Long-length and dental cassettes are scanned at the same rate in either mode. Reduced Border You can select the Reduced Borders option on the Local User Interface of the Classic/Elite CR Reader, to scan images from 35 mm cassettes and print them on the KODAK DRYVIEW 8900 Laser Imager. These images have smaller borders than those generated by other systems. Images on 35 x 35 and 35 x 43 cm cassettes are captured with pixel sizes of 171 microns rather than 168 microns. The scanned image area increases slightly, producing reduced borders. 2-8 9G9637
