UPWARD FLAG FOOTBALL OF POWDER SPRINGS UPWARD Flag Football is open to all boys and girls in the West Cobb area. We are committed to creating a 1st class flag football league that is focused on; 1.letting kids have fun 2. teaching that teamwork and hard work/practice is required to improve 3. learning how to be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. We also offer Cheerleading for girls ages 5-15 as of Aug 1. Upward Flag Football is a popular game filled with fun and action. The program provides young players a fun and exciting opportunity to engage in non-contact, continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork. In this game, the offensive team plays for a first down at midfield and a touchdown in the end zone. Running and passing plays are allowed, although there are no-running zones at midfield and near each goal line. The defensive team covers receivers, rushes the passer, and grabs flags to make tackles. Fair play and sportsmanship are encouraged as is equal playing time for all players. We are a group of like-minded parents that enjoy the game of football and desire to provide a positive environment for boys and girls to play and have fun. Both practice times and games will emphasize fun while teaching the great values and skills that team sports offer. 2. What ages can play? We offer leagues by school grades, i.e. K4-K5, 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, 7th/8th. The age grouping may vary depending on total number of players. 3. Where does the league play? Activities are held at Compton Elementary School 3450 New Macland Rd. and Hillgrove High School 4165 Luther Ward Rd. Please note at Compton School that we will not have access to any buildings and there will be No Restrooms available. 4. How do I register? All registration is done on-line at http://registration.upward.org/upw61172. All payments are 4 / 7

preferred to be made online. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express on the website via paypal as a form of payment. You may opt to pay by check at 1st practice. 5. What equipment will my child need? Plastic bottom molded cleats are recommended for flag football, but not required, no metal bottom cleats are allowed. For flag football, we provide the jersey and flag belt. Participants must wear shorts or sweat pants WITHOUT POCKETS. (When grabbing for the flag belt, fingers can get caught in pockets and lead to injury.) All children must wear a Mouth Guard at all times in practice and in games. 6. How will I know what team my child is on? Following the player draft you will be notified by an email or phone call from your coach. Feel free to contact Buddy Reeves or Dwight McKissack or Sarah Plummer with questions. 7. How can parents help? Parents can get involved by stepping up and acting as coach or assistant coach. We also are looking for a Team Parent who will be willing to be responsible for coordinating snacks after the games, etc 8. Can my child be on a team with friends? 5 / 7

Yes. There are no guarantees but we will certainly try to accommodate when possible. We strive for equality of skill levels on each team so trying to match up all friend requests is nearly impossible. Teams are determined by a coaches draft following the player evaluations. 9. How/where do I get my child s uniform? Coaches will distribute uniforms to the players at practice. 10. What about rain or inclement weather? There are options to let you know of any changes: - Call, email or text mesage from your coach - You can call your coach - Check our Facebook page 11. Is there any type of Financial Assistance available? There are a limited number of spots available each season but we believe that all children should have an opportunity to enjoy organized sports, regardless of financial status. Contact Buddy Reeves for info. 12. Who can I contact with questions? - Call Buddy Reeves at 770-943-0333 ext. 237 or 770-543-8021 - Send email to buddyr@fbcps.org - Call/text Dwight McKissack at 404-933-2831 - Call/text Sarah Plummer at 678-262-8574 6 / 7
