THERASCRIBE INFORMATION TheraScribe is a professional counseling software program, designed by therapists to assist in the dayto-day recordkeeping and paperwork necessary to operate a private practice, agency or other treatment facility. It is the most-utilized software in our industry. Maintaining paper files is becoming cumbersome especially in locations where several therapists are practicing. In place of purchasing more file cabinets, sites are moving to electronic means of recordkeeping. Liberty University s Graduate Counseling Program is doing the same. Almost all information for Practicum and Internship will now be handled electronically. Client summaries will be produced on TheraScribe, and transmitted electronically. TheraScribe will also make diagnosis and treatment planning much quicker and easier, as statements for forms are an integrated part of the program. The student can also add his/her own statements. There are two (2) recommended software programs to purchase: the solo/small group application program (the foundational program for all TheraScribe use), and the Complete Adult Psychotherapy Treatment Planner. These programs are obviously yours to keep and utilize. Additional treatment planners may also be purchased when the student is working with a specific population. 1. The TheraScribe software program may be purchased directly from Wiley Publishers: 1-800- 753-0655 extensions: 23518, 23520, 23521 (credit card only, toll-free phone call). Let them know immediately that you are a Liberty University student to receive their special rates. 2. It is recommended that students record ALL client notes and information on TheraScribe, as that will make Practicum and Internship reports simpler to produce. 3. When completing any summary from TheraScribe, use the following steps: - With TheraScribe open, select a client - Click on Reports (left side of page) - On next page, Click on Lightly Formatted Concise Clinical Record - Under the View Report Sections - Click on All (to remove check mark) - Click (check mark) on Diagnosis, Treatment Techniques, Presenting Problems, and Treatment Plan (Naturally, you should already placed information in these areas earlier) - Click on Launch Report - After a short time, you will see your client report on the screen - Go to the multi-axial diagnosis section and type in the SOFA and GARF scales (if they do not appear) - Add in any other related information to complete summary - Click on File (upper left corner) and Save As and save this report as a WORD file -

4. Remember the software agreement with TheraScribe. You are to use this program ONLY on your own computer. 5. Please refer to your TheraScribe User s Guide for further questions. The manual also lists online help and a technical support number (back page). 6. See next page for module information.
