1. Introduction This guideline governing the transport of hazardous goods is mandatory for those transporting hazardous goods with SBB Cargo International and supplements the company s General Terms and Conditions. 2. Scope and conditions The present guideline applies to customers as well as loaders, unloaders or transshippers on the European rail network. Hazardous goods are accepted or transfered only when proper documentation exists between the parties. Senders and receivers of hazardous goods are obliged to observe the safety and duty of care obligations. For the transport itself pickup or disposition must be agreed. Observance of the relevant national and international regulations for the transport of hazardous materials by rail contained in the Regulation concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) is mandatory. For traffic in Switzerland the Regulation on the carriage of dangerous substances by rail and cable railways (RSD) from the Swiss Federal Department for the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications applies. The transport services of SBB Cargo International relate only to the transport of goods, and not to any activities relating to loading, filling, unloading and emptying. Before transport of hazardous goods is undertaken, all deficiencies and non-conformances must be remedied on-site. 3. Excluded hazardous goods Substances in the following classes are not accepted for transport: Class 1: All with classification code 1.1A; class 1 explosive substances with Compatibility Group A: UN 0074, UN 0113, UN 0114, UN 0129,UN 0130, UN0135, UN 0224, UN 0473 Class 4.1: Self-reactive substances in class 4.1 which require temperature control: UN 3231 through 3240 Class 5.2: Class 5.2 organic peroxides which require temperature control UN 3111 through 3120 Class 7: Goods, substances and materials in class 7 (radioactive substances) are subject to special approval procedures and transport can be verified and confirmed by SBB Cargo International only upon prior notification. Class 8: Sulphur trioxide in class 8 with a minimum purity of 99,95%, transported in tanks without inhibitors: UN 1829 3

4. General information required in transport document Data regarding hazardous materials must be made available to SBB Cargo International prior to train departure. A timely handover of data enables SBB Cargo International to register the data in electronic form and to carry out physical exit controls before train departure. The information on hazardous goods must be in compliance with regulations found in RID 5.4.1.1. Information on hazardous goods in full transport: Example: 663, UN 1098 ALLYL ALCOHOL, 6.1 (3), PG I, 3 x vats, 600 kg the hazard identification number (for carriage according to 5.3.2.1.1, for example tank wagons, tank containers, wagons for goods in bulk etc.); the UN number preceded by the letters UN ; the official name of the good or article, supplemented by the technical name in brackets for goods taken under a collective name or designation N.O.S. (not otherwise specified); the danger label model and markings (for example environmentally dangerous ); where applicable the assigned packaging group; piece goods: number and description of packages; the total amount of each hazardous good with differing UN number, differing official name or differing packaging group; for class 1 freight the classification code 1 (example 1.5D), the number of packages, the weight in kg of each package as well as the total net weight in kg of the explosive must be additionally specified. Additional or special provisions: Carriage of wastes subject to safeguards: The notation WASTE (between UN number and official name), in international transport the dispatch notice number of the waste and the notification number; Carriage of tank wagons and tank containers with refrigerated liquified gases (Hazard identification numbers 22, 223 and 225): The notation THE CONTAINER IS INSULATED IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE SAFETY VALVE CANNOT BE OPENED BEFORE (Date) (date must be specified by the sender); Carriage in a transport chain including maritime or air carriage: The notation CARRIAGE IN ACCORDANCE WITH 1.1.4.2.1 ; Indication of SPECIAL PROVISION 640, where ist the capital letter appearing after the pertinent reference to special provision 640 in column (6) of Table A of Chapter 3.2; Carriage of fireworks for entertainment purposes with UN numbers 0333, 0334, 0335, 0336 and 0337: The notation CLASSIFICATION OF FIREWORKS BY THE COMPETENT AUTHORITY OF WITH THE FIREWORK REFERENCE FOR FIREWORKS /YY/ZZZZ ; 4

Special measures for empty uncleaned means of containment (RID 5.4.1.1.6): Example: EMPTY TANK-WAGON, LAST LOAD: 663, UN 1098 ALLYL ALCOHOL, 6.1 (3), PG I For empty uncleaned means of containment according to RID 5.4.1.1.6 the particulars for example EMPTY TANK-WAGON, EMPTY TANK-CONTAINER, EMPTY RECEPTACLE are preceded by the words LAST LOAD, and immediately followed by all other necessary warning labels, including: the official name of the transport unit the notation LAST LOAD the hazard identification number the UN number the official name of the good or article similarly as with full transport the danger label model and markings (for example environmentally hazardous ) where appropriate the packaging group Special provisions for carriage of environmentally hazardous substances (aquatic environment; RID 5.4.1.1.18) With the inception of ADR/RID 2011 (5.4.1.1.18) senders are obliged, to control environmental risks and to mark the affected shipments with the appropriate symbols for environmentally hazardous materials (the dead fish and dead tree). The notation ENVIRONMENTALLY HAZARDOUS is mandatory in the transport document. For the electronic transmission of hazardous goods data an appropriate data field answering the question «environmentally hazardous materials yes / no» is a minimum requirement. Information regarding the classification of a substance as environmentally hazardous is available in the appropriate safety data sheet in accordance with the regulation Nr. 1907/2006 (REACH), in particular section 14 «Transport Information». 5

Additional warning symbol for packages containing a coolant or conditioner (ADR/RID 5.5.3) Hazardous materials used for the purpose of cooling other nonhazardous goods (for example dry ice, refrigerated nitrogen) are transported in accordance with ADR/RID 5.5.3. The sender must indicate the following information in the transport document: The UN number preceded by the letters UN Designation of the material as described in ADR/RID chapter 3.2 table A column 2, followed by the expression AS COOLANT or AS CONDITIONER in an official language of the country of origin. Markings on wagons and containers A warning symbol in accordance with subsection 5.5.3.6.2 of ADR/RID is to be displayed at every access point of the wagon or container showing which hazardous material requiring cooling or conditioning is contained. The warning label must communicate the following informations: a) The term WARNING ( WARNUNG in German) in red or white letters with a letter height of at least 25 mm b) Below the star symbol * described in the ADR/RID regulation chapter 3.2 table A column 2 should follow the words «AS COOLANT» («ALS KÜHLMITTEL») or «AS CONDITIONER» («ALS KONDITIONIERUNGSMITTEL»), in black letters against a white background with a letter height of at least 25 mm. Example: «UN 1845 CARBON DIOIDE, SOLID, AS CONDITIONER» 5. Loading and cargo handling Rail cars and transport units are made available in a technically sound condition. External surfaces of transport units must be free of all residue from hazardous substances. Closures are to be checked and secured for leaks and damages. When possible a seal should be used. The hauled goods must satisfy the specific stress requirements customary to rail transport (up to 4 G). Packages and unpacked hazardous materials must be secured adequately (for example, tiedown straps, sliding slat boards, adjustable brackets) to avoid movements which could damage the hauled goods. The rules for loading and unloading and manipulation must be observed, particularly RID section 7.5.2 Mixed loading prohibitions and section 7.5.3 Protective distance. 6

6. Marking of transport units The various markings for transport units and rail wagons are summarized in the following table. 7. Special rules for transport with Italy 7.1 Transport of Class 1 hazardous goods Special rules apply to the transport of Class 1 hazardous goods to Italy in accompanied and unaccompanied ( rolling highway ) intermodal transport. The forwarder is obliged to inform the control center of SBB Cargo Italia in Gallarate at least 72 hours prior to shipment. The bill of lading for all hazardous goods for transport must be transmitted to the control center of SBB Cargo Italia in Gallarate. Senders of goods must provide the following transport data to the control center of SBB Cargo Italia in Gallarate: - Train number - Booking date of the transport - Date of planned train departure - Information on the party dispatching the goods / customer (name, address) - Identification (license plate) of road vehicle - Description of the transported hazardous goods - UN registration number of hazardous goods - Gross weight of the hazardous goods - Net mass in kg of the explosive substance - Information about the receiver of the hazardous good (name, address) - Final destination of the hazardous good For the accompanied intermodal combined transport ( rolling highway ) the ADR regulations for road transport apply. In the Regulations concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail (RID) the piggy-back transport is described in subsection 1.1.4.4.
