MIRAFIORI MOTOR VILLAGE The doors of the Mirafiori Motor Village in Turin, Fiat Auto s first multipurpose centre in the world, where purchasing a car becomes a comprehensively unique experience, have opened. This centre of excellence has been built for customers, a place for them to admire the entire Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo and Light Commercial Vehicles ranges, and experience the emotions that the different brands arouse through the many different activities that are concentrated at the centre: from the futuristic showrooms to the elegant Mirafiori Café, boutiques and the multipurpose room. The inauguration of the Mirafiori Motor Village coincides with the appearance of the first Grande Punto produced in Turin. The fact that Fiat s most successful model is now manufactured here is further proof of the close bond that ties the company to the Piedmontese capital. The largest shopping complex dedicated to the world of the car Created inside the historical Mirafiori plant, the Motor Village covers an area of 70,000 square metres, 30,000 of which are covered, and includes a huge display area of about 3,000 sq.m. The entrance to the Village is at 9, Piazza Cattaneo at the junction of Corso Tazzoli and Corso Orbassano. In front there is a public area that has been recently reclaimed and now offers plenty of parking space. From here, past ponds and water features, visitors enter the large welcoming lobby. Once inside, from the large, innovative beautifully designed hall visitors can access the Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo and Fiat Light Commercial Vehicles showrooms. Each showroom contains a comprehensive display of the range and is staffed by carefully chosen salespersons, who assist customers in their purchases, guaranteeing the utmost competence in the complex task of choosing a car. What is more, at the Mirafiori Motor Village they will also find an Assicurazione Augusta desk and one of the Sava finance company, where they will receive immediate answers to their queries; it will also be possible to draw up contracts and personalised financing proposals, even for purchases of items other than cars. Last but not least, there is a legal office, and an agency dealing with all the formalities of car ownership. At the Mirafiori Motor Village, visitors can also take a test drive, choosing from the fleet of 50 test cars. And for visitors who wish to acquaint themselves with the cars potential in detail
and improve their driving skills, the new centre also organises Safe Driving courses at weekends (in collaboration with the International School run by Andrea De Adamich), on the test circuit inside the Mirafiori complex. The Mirafiori Motor Village also offers visitors a chance to enjoy a virtual experience on the three driving simulators (one per brand), and anyone who is interested can put their name down for a guided tour of Italy s largest car plant, to discover how the Fiat Idea and Multipla, the Lancia Musa and Thesis, the Alfa 166 and now the Grande Punto are built A laboratory for maximum customer satisfaction The Mirafiori Motor Village is a laboratory which develops new procedures that focus attention on the customer, from the moment he arrives until he takes delivery of his new car, and continues to assist him with After Sales services. This is why the new centre includes a workshop which can carry out any necessary maintenance or repair work, staffed by highly skilled technicians who take the car in hand. Clear indications regarding redelivery times and transparent estimates are essential factors of customer satisfaction. Another aspect that guarantees the high standard of the service is the fact that the Fiat Auto Training Academy for technicians all over Europe is located inside the new structure. Training and refresher courses are held constantly both for internal technicians and the staff of the dealer network, and comparative laboratories are organised to make the most of the experience gained by each group. But the loyalty of a customer is also achieved through new channels, related to more lighthearted aspects of car ownership. A growing number of people wish to embellish and personalise their cars or to purchase items with the logos of the four brands, which are becoming authentic collectors items: from licensing and merchandising items to more technological or fashionable accessories in the Lineaccessori Boutique. And we must not overlook the area dedicated to the original parts that keep each car in perfect condition, safe and destined to last. The Mirafiori Motor Village is now the main headquarters and development laboratory of the Autonomy Programme, the initiative that since 1995 has involved Fiat in the development of services and means of individual and collective transport for people with reduced motor capabilities. Fiat believes that guaranteeing mobility for everyone is not only a great moral and civil objective, a target that the entire community should work towards, but also a fundamental condition for the economic and cultural development of modern society.
Not only cars The Mirafiori Motor Village incorporates a number of areas that are not related to the car world; for example a multipurpose room that can seat 400 and is equipped with the latest audiovisual aids, and a shopping gallery which will include prestigious operators from the world of tourism, entertainment and clothing. It will create an environment that is pleasant to visit and look around, quite apart from the cars themselves, an enjoyable, original mall that will attract the crowds. They will also enjoy the facilities of an elegant café/restaurant that promotes the brand images, which will be open from 8 am to midnight, seven days a week. So visitors will be able to admire the products on display even outside normal opening hours. The restaurant will offer top quality service, with an international cuisine and outstanding interior design. A window on the future that respects the past The refurbishing has been supervised by the Faculty of Architecture of Turin Polytechnic, and respects the original structure of the building which was inaugurated in 1939. Today the Mirafiori plant is still Italy s largest industrial complex. It extends over one million square metres, and has played an important role in the country s economic and social development. The creation of the new centre respects the history of the plant; it is part of a far-reaching agreement reached a few months ago by Fiat and the local authorities to recover areas of Mirafiori that were no longer in use, through various economic initiatives. Stop for a moment in Piazza Cattaneo, the heart of the Mirafiori Nord district, to appreciate the fact that the boundary wall of the plant has disappeared and has been replaced by flowerbeds and children s playgrounds: the city enters the plant and the plant opens up to the outside world. The Mirafiori Motor Village is an important step forward which will give the area a decisive boost, and promises other positive developments. The concept, design and construction have been the work of Ingest Facility with the collaboration of Turin Polytechnic Industrial Design. The work took just six months and involved about 50 suppliers specialising in different fields: from reclamation to advanced safety systems, the recovery of the existing metal structures and modern audiovisual systems.
A new centre for the many Fiat Group novelties In the spectacular setting of the Mirafiori Motor Village, the public will be able to take a close look at all the models from the Fiat Group, which contain the most sophisticated technologies, the best Italian design and maximum respect for the environment. These are the trump cards that the Fiat Group intends to play to ensure for itself a leading place in the various segments: it is an ambitious target, and one to which it has dedicated its best human, professional and technological resources. The result can be seen in the many significant novelties presented in recent months: from the Croma to the Grande Punto, the Panda Cross and the Fiat Sedici, all ambassadors for the new climate in Fiat. And next to them in the Mirafiori Motor Village, is the new generation of Alfa Romeo cars, the Alfa 159 (saloon and Sportwagon), the Alfa Brera and soon the Alfa Spider. But we must not overlook the prestigious Lancia Musa, Lancia Thesis, Lancia Ypsilon and Lancia Phedra, the expression of refined Italian styling, models with which Lancia celebrates the amazing milestone of its one hundredth anniversary this year. Visitors to the Mirafiori Motor Village will also find the range of Fiat Light Commercial Vehicles, an ideal answer for leisure time and professional activities. One example? The new Ducato, which is being presented to the international press right now. A family of original, successful cars, alongside the continuous stylistic and technical updating of the other models already in production. And without faltering, the Mirafiori Motor Village uses its striking architectural structure to communicate the Group s intention to look to the future as it continues to create good-looking, innovative cars, all with Italian design.
